Ex-Hibs star Anthony Stokes was arrested after an alleged police pursuit in Dublin, in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The former striker was apprehended for alleged dangerous driving at around 3.30am in Cabinteely after being ‘chased down’ by Gardaí officers.
The Irish Mirror said he is scheduled to appear before Dun Laoghaire District Court next month. Gardaí confirmed a man in his 30s was arrested and charged in relation to an incident of dangerous driving in south Dublin this morning.
A spokesperson said: "Gardaí have arrested and charged a man in his 30s following an incident of dangerous driving in the Cabinteely area of Dublin. He is due to appear before Dun Laoghaire District court at a later date."

On Friday January 6, Stokes was charged in connection with an alleged dangerous driving incident in which authorities say a quantity of drugs were also found in the car. The 34-year-old - who also played for Celtic and Falkirk - has hit headlines for a number of incidents in recent years and is wanted in Scotland after failing to appear at a court sentencing hearing,
In 2017, the former Republic of Ireland international was handed a two-year suspended prison sentence at Dublin Circuit Court for head-butting Elvis impersonator Anthony Bradley at Buck Whaleys nightclub in 2013. Mr Bradley sustained a broken nose and broken teeth in the attack and has also suffered serious effects on his mental health.

As a result, he lost his job as a security man at Dublin’s Gresham hotel and had to give up his Elvis impersonating act. He also had to travel to Budapest for surgery.
In 2019, Stokes admitted stalking his former partner Eilidh Scott, during which he sent over 100 abusive texts a day on WhatsApp and email. In the messages, he called her a ‘s**t’, a ‘s**’ and a ‘w***e’, and even turned up at her home in Shotts, Lanarkshire, late at night and demanded to know her whereabouts.
The campaign of abuse lasted between July 2018 and February 2019.
