Ex-Celtic kid becomes Paul Hartley's latest Scottish transfer as he signs on at Hartlepool United

Brody Patterson has made the switch to Hartlepool following his Celtic exit as he becomes Paul Hartley's latest transfer to join from the Scottish football ranks.

The full-back has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the club having impressed his new boss during his time at Airdrie. They regularly came up against Hartley's former club Cove Rangers in Scottish League One with his versatility in being able to play in a number of positions a standout attribute for the former Celtic and Hearts midfielder.

The Diamonds finished second behind Cove in the race for promotion to the Championship and then boss Ian Murray's men suffered more heartache after defeat to Queen's Park in the promotion play-off final to make the step up a division. Patterson - who made 17 appearances - admits his move to English football was a 'no brainer' and he can't wait to start working with Hartley and showing the fans what he is capable of.

Hartley told Hartlepool's official website: "Delighted to bring Brody to Hartlepool. He is someone I saw a lot during his time with Airdrieonians last season.

"He’s a good young player who can give us a few options in terms of positions.

"He has had a good grounding at Celtic and gained some great experience. We’re really looking forward to working with him over the course of the season.

Patterson added: "As soon as I heard about the opportunity, it was a no brainer.

"I am excited to work with the gaffer and play in front of these incredible fans.

"I have been into training and all the lads are great. You can tell everyone is excited for the new season ahead.

The former Celtic defender will wear the number 14 shirt and his move will be subject to international clearance.
