Ex-Celtic boss Neil Lennon names his Rapid Bucharest assistant

Neil Lennon has named his Rapid Bucharest assistant.

The former Celtic and Hibernian boss, 52, joined the Romanian outfit last week, making a dugout return after a year-and-a-half out.

And now accompanying him on his latest managerial quest will be well-traveled coach, Iain Brunskill.

Brunskill, 57, departed from Blackpool last week, with the English football league club stating he left to "pursue opportunities elsewhere."

A statement read: "Iain Brunskill will be part of Neil Lennon's staff, he will be Rapid's assistant manager.

"He managed Liverpool Under 18s for ten years before he moved to Blackburn Rovers. He was also manager of Floriana in Malta.

"He has also worked with the youth of the national teams of England, Jordan and China, as well as being a coach at Blackpool and QPR."

Rapid had been flying high in the Romanian top-flight but their form dropped drastically during the post-split fixtures as a run of one win from their final 10 games ensured they finished sixth in the Superliga.

That means Lennon is expected to oversee a significant overhaul during the close season, with ex-Rangers midfielder, Greg Docherty, rumoured to be a summer transfer target.

And according to reports, Dundee United defender Ross Graham and Celtic's Stephen Welsh are also on Lennon's radar.
