Former Sunderland striker Connor Wickham looks set to join Championship side Reading following his release from MK Dons at the end of last season. Wickham was spotted in Reading's squad for their pre-season friendly against Colchester, which saw the Royals win 2-0.
Reading are currently under a transfer embargo after they breached the EFL's profit and sustainability rules, meaning they can only sign players who are free agents or loanees. With Wickham now a free agent, he could be set to join the Championship side who will almost certainly be amongst the relegation candidates next season due to their off-season troubles.
A move to Reading would see him face off against Sunderland in the upcoming Championship campaign. Wickham signed for Sunderland back in 2011, spending four years on Wearside.

During his time at the Stadium of Light, the forward scored 15 goals in 91 appearances. He left Sunderland in 2015 to join Crystal Palace.
However, a spate of injuries during his career means Wickham has not played as much football as he would've have liked at 29.
The ex-Sunderland striker spent the second half of last season at MK Dons in League One, making 15 appearances and scoring just one goal. Typically of course, that one goal came against the Black Cats in February, with Wickham scoring the winner against Sunderland in a 2-1 win for the Dons at the Stadium of Light.
