Former Wisconsin wide receiver Marcus Randle El was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences Wednesday following his conviction on two counts of first-degree homicide along with other charges.
The charges stem from the February 2020 fatal shooting of 27-year-old Brittany McAdory and 30-year-old Seairaha Winchester in Janesville, Wis.
Prosecutors in the case alleged that Randle El killed Winchester when he thought she might tell police about his drug dealing. Randle El then killed McAdory, who was present at the scene, so she wouldn’t be considered a witness.
In the case, investigators were able to find text messages and surveillance footage as evidence of Randle El’s involvement in the crime.
Even though Randle El was sentenced to two life sentences, Rock County Judge Barbara McCrory ruled that the 33-year-old is eligible to petition for early release and extended supervision after 30 years in both cases, per WISC-TV. This means Randle El must wait 60 years to petition for an early release because he is serving two consecutive life sentences.
Randle El played for the Badgers from 2004 to ’07. He is the brother of former NFL wide receiver Antwaan Randle El.
