Ewan McGregor to star alongside daughter Clara in new film premiering next month

Ewan McGregor and his daughter Clara are starring in their first feature film together which is set to premiere next month.

The Star Wars actor, 51, and Clara, 26, will portray father and daughter in the feature film titled, 'You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder', which was co-written by the model. During the pandemic, Clara started her own production company alongside her friend Vera Bulder called Deux Dames Entertainment and worked on this project during that time.

In a profile interview with British GQ magazine, Ewan revealed that they shot the film with a small crew in New Mexico last autumn and said he was originally apprehensive about working alongside his daughter. The film follows the tale of a road trip, where the father is taking his daughter to a rehab facility without her knowledge.

Speaking about the project publicly for the first time, the Star Wars actor said that despite his concerns about working alongside Clara, he was won over by the quality of her screenplay. "She tells me (a few years ago) that she’d come up with an idea about writing about us. At first I was a bit nervous. I didn’t know what that meant,” he told the publication.

“I got the script while I was making (Netflix series) Halston. I sat down to read it and I was blown away. It was a beautiful story about us. There’s things that aren’t accurate or are bent, but they still reflect our estrangement for a while.

“I was so impressed by the story, by the humour. There’s a sort of recognition in it that made me very proud and at the same time very close to her. I felt like she understood more than I’d thought.”

The father-daughter project is set to premiere next month in Texas at the South by Southwest film, music and tech event. Gushing over working alongside her A-list father, Clara told WWD that she wants to stay tight lipped, but said acting with her dad was “very exciting.”

Speaking about creating her company in a time of such global uncertainty, Clara said: “We didn’t really know what the future of our industry looked like, and so we just decided to start a production company for many reasons.

"One of which to try and generate and create projects for ourselves, but mainly to hold some space in the industry and hopefully try to make space for narratives and stories that aren’t told enough, stories about women, stories about the LGBTQIA+ community, and finding more of a voice within the industry,” she says.

“We’re hopefully going to keep putting out content that we enjoy as well and that we think is important.”
