Ewan McGregor recently shared a heartwarming yet slightly comical story from his visit to the set of Ahsoka, where he introduced his one-and-a-half-year-old son to the beloved character Grogu. McGregor, known for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise, has deep ties to the series, with his uncle Denis Lawson having portrayed Wedge Antilles in the original trilogy.
Accompanied by his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays Hera Syndulla in Ahsoka, McGregor brought their young son Laurie to meet Grogu on set. Despite Grogu not being a part of Ahsoka, Lucasfilm arranged for a special encounter, with puppeteers bringing the character to life before Laurie's eyes.
However, the experience took an unexpected turn when Laurie found Grogu's lifelike appearance a bit too much to handle. The realism of the puppet caused Laurie to become frightened, leading to a memorable yet amusing moment for McGregor and Winstead.
It's not uncommon for young children to struggle with distinguishing between fantasy and reality, often reacting strongly to unfamiliar or realistic stimuli. While the intention behind the meeting was undoubtedly sweet, the outcome provided a humorous anecdote for the couple to look back on.
Looking ahead, Ahsoka season 2 is currently in development, with Winstead set to reprise her role as Hera Syndulla. Given the narrative direction of The Mandalorian season 3, which saw Din Djarin aligning with the New Republic, it's plausible that Hera's character may intersect with Grogu in future episodes.
As Laurie grows older, future encounters with Grogu may yield more positive results, offering a chance for the young fan to appreciate the magic of the Star Wars universe without any frightful surprises.
