Each area of the Liverpool City Region had recorded at least a 50% rise in weekly Covid infections.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, the biggest increase of the six city region areas was recorded in St Helens. The borough of St Helens recorded 1,183 positive tests in the week ending March 14 - that's 575 more positive tests than the previous week. It means St Helens's week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 95%.
The other rises were: 60% in Knowsley; 54% in Liverpool; 83% in Halton; 86% in Sefton; 67% in Wirral. In the Liverpool City Region, as a whole, the week-on-week percentage change figure rose 70%.
