Elon Musk finally found someone to help him steer the ship at Twitter -- and she’s bringing decades of high-level executive experience to the blue bird social media brand.
Musk tweeted on Friday that NBCUniversal’s (CMCSA) former chairman of global advertising and partnerships is joining the Tesla founder as the CEO of Twitter, a few hours after NBCUniversal announced that she would be leaving.
Yaccarino spent nearly 12 years at NBCUniversal. She was a key figure in the execution and launch of Peacock, NBC’s streaming platform. Her LinkedIn profile indicates that her team of over 2,000 has created over $100 billion in ad sales through partnerships with major brands including Twitter.

Before NBC, Yaccarino was with Turner for nearly 20 years, notably as COO for advertising sales, marketing and acquisitions.
Yaccarino, a Penn State graduate, has done some work with the World Economic Forum, which Musk has criticized in the past. Her selection has drawn some concern from a contingent of Twitter that is worried her leadership could revert Twitter to its stricter rules against misinformation in the pre-Musk era.
Musk, however, has already addressed this in a tweet saying that Twitter’s “commitment to open source transparency and accepting a wide range of viewpoints remains unchanged.”
Yaccarino has worked with both the Trump and Biden Administrations. She was appointed a member of the President’s Council on Sports Fitness and Nutrition by the former, while working on a vaccination campaign as chair of a nonprofit advertising group for the latter.
