High street health and beauty retailer Boots are launching a range of skincare that aims to help people going through the menopause. Their popular own brand No7 will be releasing four products as part of their Menopause Skincare collection, with prices starting from £14.95.
What’s more, is that Manchester has had a major role in the development of the range, as the line of creams, serums and mists has been developed by No7 scientists following five years of research, using insights from its 20-year partnership with the University of Manchester.
Co-created with 7,000 menopausal women, the No7 Menopause Skincare Collection contains four products after looking into how and why the skin changes as we age, and how the skin changes during perimenopause and menopause.

Included in the new range is an Instant Radiance Serum, Protect & Hydrate Day Cream, Nourishing Overnight Cream and an Instant Cooling Mist that’s perfect for those uncomfortable hot flushes.
The range is designed to help skin behave as if oestrogen was still present and is ‘proven to target visual effects of collagen and lipid depletion in the skin’, targeting what perimenopausal and menopausal experience at this time in their life.
It contains ingredients that target ageing and dryness concerns, such as niacinamide and ceramides, soy isoflavones and Japanese lily turf.
Said to reduce visible redness, the Menopause Skincare range also helps with improving radiance, reducing dryness and sensitivity, reducing accelerated signs of ageing, and cooling hot skin.
The Instant Radiance Serum has a cooling applicator with a dome head designed to massage and cool the skin, and comes in at £32.95, while the Nourishing Overnight Cream (£32.95) works hard while you sleep to deeply moisturise dry skin.
Meanwhile, the Protect & Hydrate Day Cream contains SPF30 and provides ‘72 hours of locked-in hydration’, making it ideal for dry menopausal skin. But it’s the Instant Cooling Mist that we expect to be a sell-out, offering instant relief from hot flushes by cooling the skin. It can be used throughout the day, over make-up as desired and can be used at night to cool and calm skin.
No7 have deliberately chosen to somewhat bluntly - but proudly - name the collection Menopause Skincare, in a bit to ‘break down taboos and open up a wider conversation about menopause in society.’ It comes after No7 research indicated that 75 per cent of women in the UK said they wanted products clearly referencing menopause in the product name or on pack.
Their paper also discovered that many women do not understand how the skin changes during perimenopause and menopause highlighting the need for better information and education.
As a result, No7 created a menopause training module for all of their 1,600 in-store Beauty Advisors, so that they can confidently advise women on products and ingredients that will best suit changing skin needs.
The retailer pride themselves on being a ‘menopause friendly employer’, aiming to create a culture of awareness, openness, and inclusivity about menopause - which starts with its own teams.
Boots recently celebrated a number of workers who have been with the company for 50 years, many of whom may be experiencing the menopause themselves.
Commenting on the new range, Dr Mike Bell, No7 Head of Science Research, said: “Our scientific research shows the important role that oestrogen plays in maintaining skin health. The new No7 Menopause Skincare range has been developed to support skin barrier resilience and tackle some of the most common concerns women report.
“From consulting more than 7,000 menopausal women in our cohort, we know that the menopause is associated with several undesirable skin changes, with many women reporting increased dryness, dullness and sensitivity. The range delivers against these concerns and more, and we are thrilled by the results.”
The No7 Menopause Skincare range will be available nationwide at Boots stores, Boots.com and no7beauty.co.uk from This Friday (August 25).
