Sam Heughan is best known for playing Jamie Fraser in Outlander, but fans are about to see him take on the leading man in rom-com Text For You.
Sam, originally from Dumfries, is set to star alongside Bollywood legend Priyanka Chopra, who recently welcomed a baby via surrogate with husband Nick Jonas.
Both Sam, 41, and Priyanka, 39, have openly discussed how excited they are for the project to come out and fans definitely feel the same.
A lot of details are still unknown about Sam's upcoming project, but here's everything we do know..
What is Text for You about?
Text For You follows the story of a heartbroken woman, played by Priyanka, devastated over the loss of her fiancé as she continuously texts his old number to cope with her grief.
However, the plot twist is her fiancé's phone number has already been reassigned to someone else, who happens to be Sam Heughan's character.
The two eventually meet up, and will likely fall in love while they have some bumps in the road mending their broken hearts together in true rom-com style.
Who stars in Text for You?
Sam Heughan and Priyanka Chopra star as the leading characters in Text For You, alongside Love Sarah's Celia Imrie, Being Human's Russell Tovey, It's A Sin's Lydia West and the legendary Celine Dion.
Both Sam and Priyanka have gushed about working on set of Text For You, and are buzzing to get their movie out to audiences.
Sam told ET Canada: “I’m such in awe of her. She’s so beautiful. She’s so wonderful. She’s such a good human being."
He also told Parade.com in November 2020: “I think it is going to be a fun project. It is a beautiful script. It’s a romantic comedy. Jim Strouse (who previously helmed) Grace Is Gone and The Incredible Jessica James] is the director. He’s done some wonderful independent films before. It’s such a great cast. Hopefully, it’s the kind of film that people will really enjoy and we need in this time.”
Priyanka told recently Harper’s Bazaar Arabia in February 2022: “I love rom-coms. And I’ve done a lot of rom-coms in my Bollywood work, but I’ve never had [the chance] yet in America."
She also told Vanity Fair in January: “I’m such a sucker for a good romantic comedy, like a date-night movie that makes your heart go soft.”
Priyanka's real life husband, Nick Jonas, is reportedly making a cameo in the upcoming flick.
As reported in The India Times, Jonas will appear in the movie with his wife and the two film a scene in a taxi where Chopra’s character shouts “Get the f**k out of my cab.”
What is Text for You based on?
Text for You is based on the 2016 German film SMS Fur Dich, which was based on the 2009 German novel of the same name by Sofie Cramer.
The book has recently just been translated into English and will be available on Feb. 8, 2022, so audiences can read it ahead of the movie’s premiere later this year.
When and where did Text for You film?
Text For You was filmed in the UK in late 2020 and was completely finished in 2021.
“Filming has started on #Text4You and we are having a MISERABLE time,” Heughan joked on Instagram. “Just wait until @priyankachopra and @celinedion join the production (I mean party)!!”
On Jan. 9, 2021, Chopra Jonas wrote on Instagram, “Last day on set! #TextForYou Will miss this incredible crew that I’ve spent the last 3 months with. So special to be at work.”
Fans can expect that some if not all of the shooting for Text For You took place in or around London after paparazzi photos of the two actors kissing in the show.
When is Text for You premiering?
A release date hasn't yet been announced for this flick, but the IMDB page says 2022.
