The Pokémon World Championship 2022 has wrapped up and the fight to be the very best has been concluded for another year.
Thousands of players from across the world battled it out across the four-day event at ExCel London.
Players competed in the Pokémon TCG, Pokémon VGC, Pokémon GO, Pokémon UNITE, and Pokkén Tournament DX for the chance to hoist a World Championships trophy.
During the closing ceremonies, Tsunekazu Ishihara, President of The Pokémon Company shared some exciting news.
Pokémon ex is making a return to the Pokémon TCG in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet Series and will appear in each stage of Evolution.
The “ex” ability was first introduced to the Pokémon TCG alongside the Ruby & Sapphire expansion sets in 2003.
They have high HP, along with powerful attacks and Abilities, and when one of them is Knocked Out, two Prize cards are taken.
Atsushi Nagashima - Pokémon TCG Game Director at Creatures Inc revealed in a video that “an important theme of Scarlet & Violet series is ‘comebacks,’ and we plan to introduce
Pokémon, Trainer cards, and Energy cards can turn the tide of the battle this way. “In this upcoming series, you'll see both familiar Pokémon and newly discovered Pokémon appear as Pokémon ex.”
This time it feels retro and futuristic at the same time. Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet Series will launch in 2023.
A brand new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet revealed Cyclizar, a normal/dragon Pokémon that can be ridden like a bicycle in a similar way to Miraidon and Koraidon The video also gave fans another look at one of the new mechanics Terastallizing, which is a way to power up your Pokémon making it extremely useful and very unpredictable in battle.
Pokemon World Championship 2023
Ishihara also revealed the location of the 2023 Pokémon World Championships will be held in Yokohama, Japan.
It will be the first time the tournament takes place in the birthplace of the franchise so is bound to be even bigger.
