'Everything is possible' - Raphael Varane on Manchester United's Premier League title chances

Raphael Varane admitted "everything is possible" when asked about Manchester United's title hopes after their victory against Manchester City.

United showed great character to come from behind to beat their noisy neighbours at the weekend, as goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford cancelled out Jack Grealish's headed opener.

The victory moved Erik ten Hag's side to within a point of City and showed just how far United have come since the start of the season under their new manager.

United still sit nine points off of Arsenal, although they will travel to the Emirates stadium next Sunday to take on the North London outfit, where they could chip into that lead by picking up the win.

And following the win over bitter rivals City on Saturday, Varane has now said he and his United teammates will be taking things 'game by game' while admitting 'everything is possible' in their bid to win the Premier League title this season.

"Everything is possible," the French defender said after the win. "We’ll just take it game by game. It’s a long way to go and it’s very difficult. The intensity of every game is incredible, the physical effort. It’s like the same intensity of a big Champions (League) game every game.

"The rhythm is very high. The players are very well prepared physically. We know how difficult it is. But we’re solid; we’re strong. We just need to use quality players with the ball."

Before travelling to take on Arsenal, United will play Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday evening, and could leapfrog Manchester City and Newcastle into second place in the Premier League table with a win.
