Disney’s D23 Expo was filled to the brim with new projects for all of the company’s big ticket franchises. Hundreds of new Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and Disney projects will be arriving in the cinemas and on Disney+ over the next few years.
From the long awaited Black Panther 2 to the somewhat surprising Lion King live action prequel, Disney hasn’t held back with its plans. While many projects are announced at San Diego Comic Con, D23 Expo is a fan event with plenty of extra news and exclusive trailers.
Some projects have been previously announced but now have a trailer or release date while others are brand new. Disney fans can expect a lot in the next few years - here’s every TV show and film scheduled to release in cinemas and on Disney+.

Timeline of all Marvel projects announced
The Marvel Cinematic Universe keeps expanding and, with many characters back under the ownership of the company, remakes and sequels for other franchises are primed for the picking. Marvel announces its projects years in advance so these are all the updated or confirmed tv series and films coming out in phases four, five and six.

Marvel isn’t the only franchise with a heavy schedule over the next few years - Disney itself announced numerous film projects, some of which have a theatrical release while others will go straight to the Disney+ streaming service. Fan favourite Hocus Pocus 2 is the first to be released, in time for Halloween viewing this year.

Timeline of all Star Wars projects announced
Disney has been at the helm of cinematic juggernaut Star Wars since 2012 when it bought out Lucasfilm. Since then Disney has ramped up the pace at which new Star Wars projects have been coming out, mainly through TV shows on Disney+ as films have had a mixed response from fans.

While plans are laid out for all the major franchises, some other films have also been discussed at D23.
The Indiana Jones franchise is getting another instalment with Indiana Jones 5, set to release June 30, 2023 in the UK. Those at D23 saw exclusive footage of the film with Harrison Ford telling the crowd: "Indiana Jones movies are about mystery and adventure, but they're also about heart. We have a really human story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your ass."
Warwick Davis’s Willow TV series was also given the star treatment with a new trailer released at the expo. Willow will begin streaming on Disney+ from November 30, 2022.
Finally, Avatar sequel Way of the Water closed out the Disney studios panel with James Cameron live streaming a Q&A from New Zealand. The film is set to hit cinemas on December 16, 2022, almost 13 years to the day after the original's release.
