The UK will spend their day mourning the loss of the late Queen Elizabeth II, as her state funeral takes place today in London.
It has been confirmed that today, September 19 will be a national bank holiday across the country, and many services and businesses will close as a result.
Glasgow City Council chiefs released a statement on the matter.
It read: "On Monday, September 19 the State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II will take place. An additional Public Holiday has been granted for a day of National Mourning.

"On this day, we will continue to provide the essential services required to support our most vulnerable citizens and to keep our city mobile, clean and safe. All other services, including schools and nurseries, will be closed as a mark of respect on this day of National Mourning."
So, what businesses, and public services in Glasgow will be closed today - or running reduced hours? Read on below for more information.
Public Schools
As confirmed by Glasgow City Council last week, schools and nurseries will be closed in the city to mark their respect. Surrounding areas, including East Renfrewshire, have also confirmed schools with be closed today.
Bin collections
Bin collections in Glasgow will remain suspended today, due to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Essential services are said to be continuing in Glasgow, according to the council.
However, bin pick-ups will be cancelled, but cleansing operations for street bins and parks will go ahead as planned.
A spokesperson for the council said: "Household bin collections will not go ahead as scheduled on the 19th. We are currently working on plans to minimise the impact on residents and further information will be shared as soon as it is available.”
Royal Mail
All Royal Mail services will be suspended across the UK, including Glasgow, today. As the Royal Mail runs under Her Majesty's service (now His Majesty's), 114 Post Office branches across the UK will close today.
Other branches run by the likes of Co-op, Spar, Tescos and WHSmith are also likely to be closed - check your local branch for more information.

Supermarkets and other shops
The majority of large supermarkets and stores will also close to mark their respects for Queen Elizabeth II. In terms of supermarkets, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, M&S, Iceland, Co-op, Lidl and Aldi will all be closed today.
Other stores in Glasgow shutting their doors include B&Q, Argos, Homebase, Ikea, Poundland, Primark, WH Smith, Dunelm and John Lewis. Buchanan Galleries will honour bank holiday opening hours, but have allowed shops to make their own decision on whether to keep their shutters down.
Fast food restaurants
McDonalds have confirmed that they will be closing their restaurants to honour Queen Elizabeth II. Other fast food chains that are closing up today include Gregg's, Costa Coffee, Starbucks and Domino's Pizza.
Museums and cinemas
The majority of free-to-enter museums will be closing their doors to mark their respect for Queen Elizabeth II. This includes the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, the National Trust for Scotland has confirmed their buildings and gardens will be closed. Most cinemas will be closed today to honour the Queen, including Odeon and Cineworld.
Vue Cinemas, however, will keep their doors open to stream the Queen's funeral live from their locations across the UK.
What will stay open today during the Queen's funeral?
Certain scheduled appointments in the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde area are said to be going ahead after an announcement in England and Wales meant that they would be postponing many outpatient appointments, and planned operations.
A spokesperson for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "The announcement that Monday, September 19 will be the state funeral of Her Majesty the Queen, and as such, a bank holiday, NHSGGC is currently putting plans in place so that scheduled appointments can continue as planned wherever possible."
Glasgow City Council have stated that any funerals already confirmed with the council’s bereavement services for Monday, September 19 will go ahead as scheduled.
The statement followed concerns on social media, as The National Association of Funeral Directors stated: "Some funerals will go ahead, others are moving to a different date - led by the needs and wishes of the bereaved families involved."
