And away we go! Welcome on in as we fire up our live blog for The Game Awards. There's still some time before the show kicks off, so there's no better time to catch you all up on what's been happening.
It's just hit 4pm here in the UK, which is to say we've got quite a while before The Game Awards kicks off good and proper. With a 1am start tomorrow, if you're not watching the pre-show, it's going to be a late one.

But whatever might we see if we do stay up? The big marketing tease ahead of the Golden Geoffies is a mysterious statue that hints at a reveal. Theories that it might relate to The Elder Scrolls 6, God of War, and more have already been debunked - sorry, gang. Fallen Studio's CEO has also denied that it has anything to do with Lords of the Fallen 2, though he's hoping it's related to FromSoftware.
But what about Baldur's Gate 3 studio Larian? Some sleuths have dug up patents linking the statue's design to Divinity. While it's the most convincing theory yet, Larian's publishing chief says "there aren't currently any plans for a new Divinity Original Sin 3 game." Mind you, such a specific denial doesn't necessarily rule out it being Divinity-related, just that it's likely not Divinity 3. Unless Douse is lying, then that's just mean. Regardless, we'll find out soon enough.
I put it to you, what would you like to see revealed at The Game Awards?
Me? I'm quite fond of No Man's Sky lead Sean Murray's suggestion that it's either Knack-related or "Geoff is simply opening a hell portal." It's one or the other, surely. No in between.
We’re deeply honored that HADES II is in the running for Game of the Year and more at #TheGameAwards tonight, especially since we’re in the company of such an amazing group of wildly different and beautiful games.Congratulations to all our fellow nominees — we salute you!! 🙏👏

Speaking of Hell, Hades 2 developer Supergiant has posted some lovely artwork showing protagonist Melinoë with other Game of the Year nominees like Donkey Kong and more. That, or it's a wildly ambitious DLC tease, but I'm sure it's the former.
If you weren't already aware, here are the nominees for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025.

Game of the Year
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
- Donkey Kong Bananza
- Hades 2
- Hollow Knight: Silksong
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Who do you think is taking the prize?
Wow, a lot of you think Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is taking the big prize. I mean, who can blame you?
Right, let's get into what's already been confirmed for the show. Just this week, we got a tease that Lara Croft herself will be turning up at The Game Awards and that we'll see "a look at the future of one of gaming's most iconic franchises."
Oh, and "She missed you." If you were wondering. How lovely.
What's perhaps more interesting, though, is what's potentially leaked ahead of the show. Look away, Geoff.

Earlier today, a new trailer for 007 First Light went live before swiftly being deleted. Sadly, the internet has eyes everywhere and does not forget easily, so that's now doing the rounds.
I won't go too far in depth if you're trying to avoid spoilers, but it looks like we'll soon learn who the big bad is of Hitman developer IO Interactive's James Bond game. Given that The Game Awards aren't far off, I'd assume we'll be seeing that trailer in a more official capacity soon.

Another potential early leak comes from a real MVP of breaking news - the humble rating board. The official PEGI website threw up "Black Flag Resynced" before it was swiftly scrubbed after setting the internet alight. Again, the internet doesn't forget.
This follows several weeks of fan theories and the tracking of various Steam updates. Naturally, all signs point to The Game Awards, but we'll need to wait and see if Ubisoft finally confirms the news everyone has been waiting a hot minute for.
A Black Flag remake would top off a good year for the franchise quite nicely. An awkward Attack on Titan crossover aside, Assassin's Creed Shadows is "overperforming" for Ubisoft. If you'd like to read more, we spoke to the RPG's associate director on what makes Shadows one of the best in the series' history.
Once more, it goes to you fine people.

That's it for the leaks, right? Nope. Another long-standing rumor was essentially confirmed this week by none other than the PlayStation Store. Please act surprised, but it appears Resident Evil Requiem stars Leon Kennedy in some capacity.
Long before Resident Evil Requiem was announced good and proper, rumors swirled that we'd be seeing an older Leon Kennedy. Of course, Requiem was then announced and there was no Kennedy in sight. Then we got another trailer, though Kennedy still didn't appear. Capcom has remained coy on the matter, though fans managed to nab Requiem's cover art from the PS5 storefront and wouldn't you know, there he is.
We'll have to wait and see what all this means, but once more, all roads currently lead to The Game Awards. As ever, though, we'll need to wait and see what happens.
Capcom has suggested Leon couldn't possibly be in a new Resident Evil a few times, though a personal favorite of mine comes from director Koshi Nakanishi. You see, Kennedy is "quite a bad match for horror." Not because he's overly handsome, but "he wouldn't jump at something like a bucket falling."
"No one wants to see Leon scared by every little thing," Nakanishi says. "So he's actually quite a bad match for horror."
Handsome and manly.
Mind you, there's some room to maneuver there. Nakanishi's musing merely suggest Kennedy wouldn't be an ideal protagonist in a horror-heavy Resi game. That doesn't necessarily mean he can't be brooding around in the background as a side character, leaving Grace to be as spooked out as needed. Bravo, Capcom.
That's a good number of confirmed reveals, and others that might happen. If you'd like some more, though, you can read our 10 predictions for The Game Awards 2025. No facts, just vibes.

Of course, The Game Awards isn't all reveals. It is The Game Awards, after all. One game I wouldn't expect to see, though, is recent roguelike sensation Megabonk. It was nominated for a debut award, but, well, it isn't actually the debut game for its developer, so that's been pulled.
"I've made games in the past under different studio names, so Megabonk is not my debut game," John Megabonk explains. Does leave you to wonder who they are then, hm?
There will be new game announcements tonight at The Game Awards.December 11, 2025
Breaking news over there on Twitter, gang.
Only three and a half hours to go, gang! That's just enough time to get your snackies in.
The Game Awards promotion and sale on @Steam is now live!Watch the show live tonight on Steam!https://t.co/irwaPAKAOMDecember 11, 2025
If PC happens to be your platform of choice, Steam is hosting a "promotion and sale" associated with The Game Awards ahead of the actual event tonight. I'm not seeing a ton of discounts there as of yet, but it's a good reminder of what's been featured in the show previously – and deals like Devil May Cry 5 for $9.99 and Control Ultimate Edition for $5.39 are solid enough reasons to give it an eyeball already.
Maybe I'm being nostalgic but I seem to recall a time where announcements were made during The Game Awards and not several hours before.
Anyway, here's an official Diablo social media video indicating something's happening in Los Angeles – with a logo for "Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred" on the back of the many, many hearses in it. What, exactly, is it? That remains to be seen, but I'm shocked that Blizzard would let even this much out prior to a real proper announcement.
Los Angeles. Death has arrived.⚰️ pic.twitter.com/Sj1CMwlxmEDecember 11, 2025
With just an hour and a half remaining before the pre-show kicks off, there's still plenty of time remaining to get your speculation in. What do you think will make an appearance this year?
Any dormant franchises you hope to see return? Or maybe something that's been announced but quiet for a long time? As always, my pick here is: Valkyria Chronicles, because I am an idiot that loves to suffer.
The general vibe of our regular live blogs here at GamesRadar+ – at least when I'm involved – is mostly "fun and games," but The Game Awards' Geoff Keighley has shared a somber reflection ahead of the show that deserves highlighting with some level of seriousness.
According to Keighley, he always watches back the last year's show ahead of the new one. And he has, of course, done so again this year.
"This year, when I got to the Okami moment, I noticed my Dad was just over my shoulder in the audience, smiling," he shared on Twitter. "As you may know, my dad passed away a few months ago. Tonight’s show is dedicated to him."
One of my The Game Awards rituals is to watch back the previous show. This year, when I got to the Okami moment, I noticed my Dad was just over my shoulder in the audience, smiling. As you may know, my dad passed away a few months ago. Tonight’s show is dedicated to him. pic.twitter.com/50HHs9zNynDecember 11, 2025
Less than 30 minutes remain before The Game Awards pre-show begins! This is a great opportunity to great snacks, a drink, or maybe even hit the bathroom ahead of what always feels like the longest three hours and change of the year.
With less than 15 minutes to go, it's worth noting that the official placeholder stream has actually begun now. If you're looking to get in right as the action starts or you really want to listen to some pulse-pounding music while people in the chat ask about Half-Life 3 and post cringeworthy memes that is... something you can do right now. (Or you can just watch the video embedded here.)
...and with less than 10 minutes to go, there's an honest-to-goodness countdown clock on the screen! It has a threatening aura, in my opinion, and I do not care for it. (If you're listening, Geoff, I'd personally prefer more neutral colors next year.)
Not long now! Just two minutes and change! Last chance for any predictions that may be immediately proven wrong. Also, if you didn't already grab a drink and hit the bathroom, well, good luck with that.
And away we go... Viewer discretion is advised. Pre-show here with Sydnee Goodman's Opening Act. Teasing Resident Evil Requiem, Phantom Blade Zero, Lego Batman, and more.
Frame Interactive Studios first up with the announcement of The Free Shepherd. Which... looks like that sounds like. Sheepdog running around rolling plains, swimming, yawning and stretching. OK, Geoff, you got me.
PS5 and PC in 2027, apparently! Absolutely no time to waste, however, as the first award is here: Best Family Game goes to... Donkey Kong Bananza! Doug Bowser here to accept. "We're grateful to the fans and to The Game Awards for this honor."
Next up: Decrepit. Spooky vibes here with a side of Skyrim. Fighting with swords and torches. "Rise again and again." Big spider, nasty mage. PC only, seems like?
Immediately segueing into some kind of music game where you actually fight the music you're listening to? Very Beat Saber meets Rez Infinite. Audio Mech, PC, demo out tomorrow. From the creator of Audiosurf!
Immediately onto the next award! Innovation in Accessibility goes to... Doom: The Dark Ages! Marty Stratton here to accept. "A Doom for all Slayers." Thanks basically everyone involved, especially those in accessibility.
And now: ads. Guild Wars 2! Best time to play is now, ad says. I'm convinced! Anyway, here's the trailer for Free Shepherd:
And next: Escape from Duckov, I think? I don't go here, I'm so sorry. Talk to me when there's anime on the screen.
Sydnee Goodman teases upcoming: Lara Croft reveal, deeper look at Resident Evil Requiem, Phantom Blade Zero release date. Also, Flute Guy is back! Also here's the Decrepit trailer:
Best Esports Game is: Counter-Strike 2!
Best Esports Athlete: Chovy!
Best Esports Team: Team Vitality!
Congrats to all the winners (that they spent like a minute on total.)
And now: Capcom's Pragmata! This sure still looks like a futuristic game. Some kind of hacking minigame used by the little girl? While the guy does some jumping and shooting. Big monster with lasers looks gnarly. A bit Death Stranding meets Shadow of the Colossus maybe? They're even on a beach!
Release date April 24, 2026, demo today, also there's going to be a Switch 2 version! It's a real game! Deep down, I always knew it.
No time to waste though, Best Mobile Game goes to: Umamusume: Pretty Derby! Horse girl game stays winning.
Kepler Interactive trailer for some kind of RPG. Some kind of fantasy thing? Looks very much in the vein of Baldur's Gate 3 and even has Devora Wilde! Ben Starr! Amelia Tyler! Battling ghosts with turn-based fighting and grids.
Solasta 2! March 12, 2026, in Early Access.
Kepler Interactive again with a tanky game with strange mech critters and robots and post-apocalyptic vibes. Tankrat! Build your tank, take on other takes and not tanks. Spring 2026 on PC and PS5.
Next up: Best Independent Game goes to... Clair Obscur: Expedition 33! Devs talking about wanting to make a small game initially, and Expedition 33 is the first game most of them have ever shipped. Award dedicated to all the indie teams around the world. And even "to all those that never make it to release."
Day 4 Night game up now! Badger in a cozy-looking world... Platformer? No; the badger has lost its village. Badgerborne with the obvious take on Soulslikes. "Everything I went looked strange and weirdly unfinished." Mechanics include the ability to actually make platforms and generally do game developer. Cyberbadger... again, you know. The Last Badger.
Generally, I like the idea of playing around with a game as a game. Live-action elements? Or just for the trailer? Unclear! Both maybe! Neither maybe! Bradley the Badger, coming to PC via Steam.
Evan Peters as Bradley the Badger, apparently. Good for him.
New game coming from a studio out of Osaka! Rapping girl and zombie guy in a game that... I am not sure. Guns seem to be involved? Pretty colorful. Song's not bad either. It does strongly resemble what I wish Lollipop Chainsaw was.
Stupid Never Dies! Looks to be a brawler of some kind? The zombie guy is getting his Kratos-style action on and generally kicking the butts of enemies. PS5 and PC, 2026.
But now: an award! Best Adaptation goes to... The Last of Us season 2! Neil Druckmann here thanks the original devs, Naughty Dog folks now, and more. Gabriel Luna is here too. Druckmann jokes about "whoever our streaming overlord is now." Nice.
The Opening Act is over! We've made it! The real thing begins now.
And we begin with: a musical interlude in French I think? Which I assume means this has something to do with Clair Obscur? Yes, Clair Obscur. I definitely know what I'm talking about.
While we wait for the music and intro montage to conclude, here's the Bradley the Badger trailer which is 100% worth a watch:
Oh no what have they done with the stage setup this year... Was there always a strange worm tunnel? Keighley is here!
Is Geoff not wearing sneakers or are they really dark? An investigation.
Geoff now getting serious: lost his home in the fires, acknowledges his father passing away – his mom is here with an empty seat beside her in honor of him. Says looking forward to this event helped him move forward. "All of you watching tonight, you've felt that power too," he says of the power of games in general. We're all here to celebrate developers and games.
Jeffrey and Elijah Wright (from Dispatch) here to present the first award of the actual event. Jeffrey says he's excited to be here with all the artists and gaming fans. Says it was his son who really brought him to games as he specifically encouraged him to join the cast of The Last of Us.
"If it weren't for Elijah, I'd still be playing Pong of an Atari."
And the award for Best Action Game goes to...
Hades 2! Well deserved!
Greg Kasavin and Amir Rao are here to accept. Amir says all seven that made Bastion are still at Supergiant and making games. Expresses gratitude to all the other teams that inspire them, players. And we're done! Short and sweet. Geoff must have had a talk with the nominees this year.
...I can't stop looking at the worm tunnel. Anyway, first world premiere trailer up now! Definitely looks like Star Wars?
Ships, space, strange crash sites... Just need a lightsaber. And there it is!
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic! From Casey Hudson and Arconaut Studios! Single-player action RPG, set in the Old Republic. Immediately segueing into Miss Piggy is doing me in.
I think Miss Piggy is hitting on Geoff. Did he script Piggy hitting on himself? I don't know what to do with this. Apparently we will see more of her later.
Maggie Robertson is here for some kind of survival training Resident Evil/Monster Hunter/Capcom ad. Good for her. Leading into some kind of animated Battlefield Redsec trailer. Sure, OK.
Digital Extremes! Soulframe! Quick trailer going into John Carpenter's Toxic Commando shooter trailer. Honestly, I thought I was over zombie games, but the energy and aesthetic here really works for me. March 12, 2026!
And now the statue reveal, I think? A bunch of people dressed in medieval peasant clothes are wandering up toward the stage... A storm begins. One of them is lifted into the sky? Who approved this. Where's OSHA?
Some kind of gateway/eclipse between planets? Lots of flashing lights and goopy sounds.
Crowned man in chains, some kind of festival elsewhere... Definitely fantasy of some kind? This has to be Larian, right? Some sort of Wicker Man scenario happening with a bunch of wooden effigies.
Oh, uh, so the chained guy was inside the effigy. And everyone knew. And now, he's being burnt alive as some kind of sacrifice. Also, there's a small child that really wants to see... also there's an orgy. Well.
Frankly, this is a bad experience for the senses. Some strange red gas escapes from the back of the man as he dies and yes, it is Larian, in fact. And it looks like all the people have been fused into the weird desert statue.
Divinity! "A continuation of the Divinity saga." Geoff says bigger than Baldur's Gate 3, even. The Hellstone is the name of the monument.
Maggie Robertson and Neil Newbon to present Best Performance! Lots of little joking and skits about lying to people, like actors do.
And the winner is... Jennifer English! For Clair Obscur: Expedition 33! Not shocked, given the Golden Joysticks win.
"This is not just my award; this takes a village." Thanks all the "beret-wearing village" that it took to make Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Says to all of the neurodivergent people that this one of for them. "For those who come after, thank you."
Up next: Bad Robot Games! J.J. Abrams here with Mike Booth. "We've been creating a new kind of co-op game that builds upon what I learned making Left 4 Dead." Combat sandbox, co-op, improv. Sharing a glimpse now: sign up for early playtesting!
World lost to invaders of some kind. Weird purple people stuck all around. You apparently get "reprinted" when you die. Looks to be a tree of some kind. Roguelike of sorts? Weird sky cubes and other enemies look gnarly. 4:LOOP is the name.
No time to waste, however, as we're immediately on to the next thing. Cel-shaded backgrounds, old woman with a torch examines a skeleton. Critter walks up, also examines. I like this already; feels very Hilda. Old woman (protagonist??) navigates around slowly and has the big critter to help and guide.
Coven of the Chicken Foot! Wishlist now on Steam, y'all.
Kepler Interactive back again with some kind of BioShock but more horror. Lots of body grossness as Stellan Skarsgard man walks us through "pushing the very limits until reality itself breaks."
Ontos, 2026, Xbox, PS5, PC. Creepy! Fractional Games, sci-fi mystery.
And now: a Hoyoverse character unit ad. While that plays, you should really watch the Divinity trailer:
Switch 2 montage! Duskbloods still 2026. And now: 2XKO trailer! Do still like the look of this – coming to consoles in January 2026! Caitlyn tease.
thatgamecompany CEO and creative director Jenova Chen takes the stage to present Games for Impact.
And the winner is... South of Midnight!
South of Midnight also coming to PS5 and Switch 2 this coming spring! Sneaking in a little announcement during an acceptance speech: iconic.
And now: Resident Evil Requiem! Geoff is teasing some surprises... Grace wanders through a door where a mysterious gentleman sits in front of a fire. Creepy, creepy man with some kind of goggles.
Smash cut to Grace at a crime scene with phone conversation about missing people. "Elpis can finally be set free..." Victor Gideon is the man, apparently.
Surprise! It's Leon Kennedy. He's immediately interacting with Grace, so seems unlikely they'll be fully split or anything. "Don't do anything stupid." "Me? Never," says Leon. February 27, 2026.
And now: the next game from Jonathan Blow. Some kind of grid-based fantasy puzzler, seems like? Getting Arranger vibes with mirrors and water and basically using beams to solve all kinds of environmental puzzles. Order of the Sinking Star, PC, 2026.
No time to linger, however! Immediately onto new stuff from Exodus, the sci-fi game that's earned initial comparisons to Mass Effect. Certainly isn't dodging those allegations here!
"Child of Orion, fulfill the purpose for which you were crafted. And seize your destiny."
You're the only one that wield celestial tech and find a cure for a dying world, apparently. "With the right ship, and the right crew, you could save all of us." Lots of different-looking aliens, which is always appreciated. Also, alien bear? Apparently?
Early 2027! PS5, PC, Xbox. But also: a brand-new announcement from Wizards of the Coast, not just Exodus.
Tricia Helfer apparently stars in the new game. Some real Castlevania vibes to the initial trailer thus far. Spooky, witchy magic. Creation of a sword of some kind... Shadow creation? Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons! Gameplay reveal 2026, launch 2027. All the usual platform suspects.
Spotify ad followed by... I don't know what this is. Lots of game references to Xbox titles, though, so I have to imagine it's Game Pass.
Yup, Game Pass. Here's that Exodus trailer for you:
Anime racer Screamer still looks great, to be honest. The various cut scenes here look ripped straight out of a 2010s Toonami show and I mean that in a positive way.
With two hours still to go, there's now someone on strings again with spooky video. Definitely looks like Control with the protagonist in the background. Is the worm tunnel part of this?
And now, person on strings is in cage. "Do you feel it? Something is coming." I believe you. The light show continues as strange imagery scintillates and oscillates in the background. But it's a teacup. "An intrusive pattern of staggering power reshaping reality as we know it." I'd agree given it just turned a bird into a geometric pattern.
Some extreme Ghost in the Shell music here as there's lots of mind-bending, reality-warping stuff. Some kind of weird metal weapon like the gun from Control but a sword? Yes, melee it is!
Gameplay now, looks like. Lots of dodging and running and hitting stuff with your weird bat. Control Resonant is the name! "Pace yourself, it's gonna get weirder." Coming 2026 to all the usual platforms.
And now: a new game from Japan! First in-engine footage! Nagoshi Studio, so definitely the new thing from Toshihiro Nagoshi. Not shocking it has Yakuza vibes as a big man beats down on people in a suit in what looks to be Japan.
Gang of Dragon is the name! "Deep into development," per Geoff. Not platforms or dates or anything else.
And up next: Street Fighter sneak peek! Ken, Zangief, Chun-Li, Ryu, M. Bison, Vega... God. Other than this being a bit too dark, the vibes are pretty good. Same for the music. The energy is good. Only in theaters 2026.
A bunch of the actors are here for some reasons. Cody Rhodes! Andrew Koji! Honestly, it's like... all of them. Jason Momoa included. "Ladies and gentleman, the cast of Street Fighter." This is easily the most Spike TV segment so far tonight.
The cast is here to present the award for Best Ongoing Game! That makes sense to me. I am having a hard time with this one, folks. Lots of jokes about the Mortal Kombat 2 cast.
And the winner of Best Ongoing Game is No Man's Sky! Good luck shaking all of those hands, Hello Games.
Geoff also jokes about the handshakes. Are you reading the live blog, Geoff? Seems irresponsible. Lego Batman here to talk about... Lego Batman! Which means there's a new look at Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
Honestly, I was sold on this from the moment it was announced, but literally all of the characters that show up here and goofs really works for me. May 29, 2026 release date!
Also, here's that Street Fighter teaser you were looking for:
Rapid-fire awards time!
Best Audio Design goes to: Battlefield 6!
Content Creator of the Year goes to: MoistCritikal!
Best Fighting Game: Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves!
Most Anticipated Game: Grand Theft Auto 6!
I always struggle to cover the big ad blasts. Are these announcements? Are they anything at all? Is this thing on? Amazon Luna paid money to be here, but does anyone care?
Felicia Day is here to present! For the TGA Game Changer goes to... Girls Make Games! Over 8,000 girls impacted over the past decade and change by the organization. Nice.
And now, the next thing! Certainly seems like Lara Croft? Talking about how she's a legend and unstoppable. She's got double pistols and a grappling hook.
Tomb Raider Catalyst! 2027! PS5, Xbox Series X.
But also: another Tomb Raider! A prequel of sorts? Looks like maybe a retelling of her early adventures? Flying Hog, Crystal Dynamics. "Lost worlds frozen in time, new discoveries waiting behind every door, across every chasm."
This is about as close as 2025 gets to '90s Tomb Raider. Secrets of Atlantis looking to be uncovered here. "Some legends are destined to be retold!" Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis in 2026.
Moving right along to some kind of futuristic game, however. Spaceship, weird holochess. Flooded zone leading to weird desolate landscapes with strange creatures. Lots of scanning strange moving objects. OK, there's also shooting. Forest 3!
Robert Kirkman here for an Invincible Vs. roster addition: Rex Splode jokes about it being him. Ella Mental is the new fighter! "You seem pretty cool, but that won't stop me from kicking your ass." Good for her. She has a cape; no notes.
Invincible Vs. out April 2026! But now: a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive announcement with an anime co-op space adventure. This animation has me in a chokehold. Orbitals! 2026! Developed by Shapefarm!
Miss Piggy is back. Apparently there was supposed to be some kind of musical number with Rowlf, but he's not here. She's inconsolable.
Anyway, Best Action/Adventure Game winner is... Hollow Knight: Silksong!
Best Art Direction winner is... Clair Obscur: Expedition 33!
Best Sim/Strategy Game winner is... Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles!
Best Debut Indie Game winner is... Clair Obscur: Expedition 33!
Wuthering Waves 3.0 up now!
Here's the Tomb Raider trailers:
More ads – who watches this and comes away thinking, "I definitely want Google Play coins" exactly – for things so here's the Orbitals trailer too, which has me by the throat already:
All right, there's a demon on the big screen admonishing people now. This has to be Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred.
OK, expansion trailer now. Digging, dying people. "Soon, all of Sanctuary will be bathed in hatred, and none shall escape the flood." Paladin looks like wearing a bunch of armor and kicking the butt of demons with flashy abilities and a big sword. Nice.
But landing a hit on Mephisto's vessel just makes him burst forth! Classic. Big demon against small Paladin. April 28, 2026.
Marvel Rivals up next to tease Deadpool, it looks like? Animated trailer features the like of Throg, Cap-Wolf, and more. But at the end, was that an Elsa Bloodstone tease??
Gemma Chan here for 007: First Light. Looks like this might be the trailer that leaked earlier? Keep an eye out for Lenny Kravitz.
OK, yes. That was the leaked trailer from earlier. Kravitz says his villain rose from nothing, broke free, and built his own kingdom. Kravitz is here to present Best Score and Music.
And the winner is... Clair Obscur: Expedition 33! Good for them.
Geoff, please, think of the live bloggers. Your chyrons with names disappear so fast. Lorien Testard, the composer, is reading a note thanking everybody. He seems genuinely moved! Collaborator Alice Duport-Percier takes the mic before TGAs can play them out to also thank everyone.
Sydnee back to immediately note that people can save on accessories via Amazon. Thanks.
Digital Extremes people here to talk about... something. Says Warframe was once "ninjas in space" but now it's time to let a legend tell us what is Warframe. ...Werner Herzog is here to tell us. Well, via trailer. I don't know what we did to deserve this (complimentary).
"Wake up, Tenno," Herzog says. That's gonna stay with me, folks. That's the bit I'll remember about tonight.
Immediate, and I do mean immediate, segue to a anime-like Seven Deadly Sins: Origin trailer.
Here's that Werner Herzog video, because it deserves to be seen:
Lords of the Fallen trailer up now but I'm going to be completely honest I was captivated by Werner and missed the start. Lots of baddies beating on the good guy then getting beaten on. Lords of the Fallen 2 out 2026. Lords of the Fallen version 2.5 out today, apparently!
Best Sports/Racing Game winner is... Mario Kart World!
Best Community Support winner is... Baldur's Gate 3!
Best VR/AR Game winner is... The Midnight Walk!
Best RPG winner is... Clair Obscur: Expedition 33!
Players' Voice winner (100% fan-voted award, by the way) is... Wuthering Waves.
Rahul Kohli here now talking about Saros, in which he stars, from Housemarque! Debut of a new story trailer happening right now.
"The sun is forever." That doesn't seem true.
Creepy orange-tinted space world. Floating monsters flying around. "This is what it does, it gets in our heads and it twists and it turns." I bet it does. Lots of dodging through projectiles using speedy abilities. Out April 30, 2026!
Dan Houser of Grand Theft Auto fame here to present Best Narrative!
And the winner is... Clair Obscur: Expedition 33!
I love the continued Clair Obscur outfit bit that the developers do. Honestly, great success.
Sydnee back again to talk about Amazon deals. Cool.
Developer Neon Giant here with a new trailer. No laws, no oversight here in this cyberpunk-looking game. Flashy, techy, but also on the edge of the jungle in a way that feels warm and tropical. Seems like the protagonist has been pulled back into the thick of things without wanting to. Lots of shooting, kicking, more shooting, more kicking. No Law out on all of the usual platforms.
Oh thank goodness, Evanescence is here to perform after much buildup. If you're here for awards and announcements, good time to grab a water or a bathroom break.
Here's that Saros trailer, by the by:
Quick before we move on from the music, here's the No Law trailer:
OK, we're moving along into... Where Winds Meet? Pretty sure this is already out, so safe to say we're in an ads portion, I believe.
And now for something spooky! First-person perspective wandering around... Phasmophobia coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Nice.
Milla Jovovich is the next Hitman Elusive Target! And she's now taken the stage to thank gaming fans. Hitman Elusive Target for her is apparently February 2026. She's here also to present the Best Multiplayer Game!
And the winner is... Arc Raiders!
Embark Studios accepts and thanks fans, players, loved ones. You know the drill.
David Harbour is here to talk about Creative Assembly and Total War, of all things. "It'll be in a universe that is so close to my heart."
Total War: Warhammer 40K! Congrats, features editor Andy Brown. Harbour says he's painted endless miniatures, spent a lot of time dropping dice under tables. He's in the game, apparently! Good for him.
First look here certainly seems grim and dark. Big ships, armored folks, shooting enemies and stabbing them and shooting them again. A very pretty cutscene, anyway. "Across countless worlds, battles rage."
Again, this looks impressive, but this isn't what Total War games look like to play, usually. It's a bit more... zoomed out. And here we go – looks like there's a universal map of sorts that you combat across, and here comes some actual gameplay.
I mean, yeah, that looks like sci-fi Total War to me. "There is no peace amongst the stars."
I cannot believe I am saying this but it is obviously Ace Combat. (Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies is one of my favorite games of all time.)
Lots of jets zooming around, shooting missiles and talking with buddies. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve! Apparently, you play Rex. Coming 2026.
Up next: racing experience from devs that did Burnout! This is definitely Star Wars. Man, now this is podracing.
When did everyone decide to all make racers again at the same time? Star Wars Galactic Racer showing off a bunch of zooming through ship graveyards in a way that really works for me.
Pretty sure we've seen a look at this puppet co-op game where the leads have no mouths, Out of Words, before. It look good then, looks great now. Coming 2026.
Miss Piggy is back! Geoff teed up a joke about Todd Howard, but it's Miss Piggy. Rowlf was late apparently; he was out taking himself for a walk. They are doing a musical number now that has to be pre-recorded right.
They're doing a song about The Game Awards. I am not even joking. "The Game Awards will never let you down!" Lots of little shots at Geoff and the event itself. Hearing Rowlf singing "Hollow Knight: Silksong" is too much.
And now: Duet Night Abyss trailer.
Here's that Total War: Warhammer 40,000 trailer while we wait:
And that Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve trailer to boot:
Arknights: Endfield now with musical accompaniment.
Here's that Out of Words trailer:
Arknights: Endfield out January 22, 2026.
But enough about that: world premiere up now! This has to be Phantom Blade Zero, right? Yeah, it is. Lots of mystical fighting and smart action with big weapons. It's the speed I want from action games and the vibe of something FromSoftware might do... I dig it.
"When phantom and blade unite, no enemy stands." Dang, go off. Lots of QTE-style fighting here looks like, but it's moving so fast that it's hard to get a sense of whether that's a good or bad things. For now, we know it's a thing.
Out September 9, 2026! PS5 and PC.
Todd Howard out now to present. You might know him from the Elder Scrolls games, modern Fallouts, and also Prime Video's Fallout show. He's presenting Best Game Direction!
And the winner is... Clair Obscur: Expedition 33! (Poor Kojima keeps losing.)
Lots of laughter here about accepting the award. "We're eternally grateful for the love and support." I honestly think they've won so many times that they're collectively not sure what to say any longer.
Big return teased here... "I'm excited to share this piece of news with all of you," says Keighley.
"The world needs you again." OK, I believe you.
Mega Man! No way! A brief teaser immediately leads into a side-scrolling stage! Mega Man Dual Override. 2027! All the usual platforms, Switch 2 included. Wow.
And a very quick extended look at the new Mario movie where Luigi kicks Bowser Jr. in the face. All right.
But enough of that! We're into Koei Tecmo stuff now where you're fighting energy creatures and flying monsters with a sword. Nioh 3, February 6, 2026. Demo on January 29!
More about that Solo Leveling Arise Overdrive game.
Here's the Phantom Blade Zero release date trailer:
Geoff teasing the final world premiere here with a new original game from folks that made Apex Legends. New shooter! Highguard, Geoff seemed to say?
Bit of magic with people running around on mounts and doing spell-like abilities and so on with destructive walls. "A new breed of shooters." It certainly looks like if someone took Valorant or Apex Legends and dialed up the abilities with magical enhancements.
...they've just summoned a big tread-based siege weapon? And now there's an ice ogre-like player? And a storm god? And a druid Cassidy? Yeah, Highguard. January 26, PC, PS5, and Xbox.
And now we've finally reached Game of the Year, which is being presented by Astro Bot's Nicolas Doucet. But also, as I always forget, these games are introduced through an orchestral medley so we have that to look forward to now.
Pedro "Flute Guy" Eustache spotted; the night is officially a success. Do love me a medley.
And the Game of the Year is... Clair Obscur: Expedition 33! Not surprising given the absolute bevy of wins for the team tonight so far. "What a weird timeline for us," says Guillaume Broche. They apparently brought the entire team out to The Game Awards!
Sends thanks to Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi for inspiring him to become a game developer in the first place.
Also! New content! Free! Right now! Weapon, boss, et cetera. Wow.
That's it! It's over! Thank you to everyone that stuck it out this far.
