People are preparing to have to pay for covid lateral flow kits for the first time since the government made them available during the pandemic. As restrictions have lifted people are no longer forced to self-isolate even if they have tested positive for coronavirus.
From Friday April 1 most people will now have to buy the lateral flow tests if they want to check whether they have covid. It is part of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Living with Covid plan.
The government has issued a list of approved test providers which include national organisations such as Boots. These vary in price but Boots has said it will charge £2.50 each or £12 for a pack of five. At Superdrug you can buy Healgen lateral flow tests priced £1.99 each or a five-pack of Flowflex for £9.79.
