Netflix Bridgerton fans say there's not enough sex in the new series

It's been nearly a week since the latest series of Netflix 's Bridgerton dropped on our screens and many people are saying the same thing - there's simply not enough sex. Series one got off to a very raunchy start, and delighted many viewers when it arrived back in December 2020, but the latest episodes are a lot more tame, as guests on Good Morning Britain pointed out.

"Has Bridgerton lost the plot after losing the sex?" was the question the morning chat show asked on Thursday, March 31. Businesswoman and TV personality Dr Tessa Hartmann was one person to speak out about the lack of sex.

For those who don't remember, the first season of the hit show got many people very excited when they were introduced to the intense, and incredibly raunchy relationship, between Simon and Daphne. But series two focuses on Daphne's brother, Anthony Bridgerton, who goes onto pursue a new character called Kate.

The plot is similar to the books the TV show is based on, with focus being centred around the life and romance of a different Bridgerton child. However this season has left some viewers a little disappointed, with the story focusing more on love rather than lust.

Tessa told Good Morning Britain: "The sex scenes - honestly it made it. You know Simon's character - the Duke of Hastings - he was horny, he was heady he was impetuous, but you followed the passion. It was an incredible love story, and it was risky for television. We were all sitting at home in our jammies at the time during Covid, and it lightened up the room."

Series 2 follows the love life of Anthony Bridgerton (Netflix)

Meanwhile her daughter, Tallia Storm, told the breakfast show that the show was about "love not lust", and said she was happy with a more romantic plot.

"The fact that mum is even saying this," Tallia said, holding her hands up. "Season two is incredible - it's so much more than sex and power.

"At the end of the day this show is about courtship, and not marriage, so this is the season of love. It's not for lust. I think we've gotten introduced to a new character called Kate, and I think she stands for everything that every modern woman should want to be.

"She's not standing for a man, she's not standing for his big ego and his requirements, and she goes 'hang on a minute - if you want me, if you want to court me then you're going to have to respect me for who I am and not a symbol of what's going on in the bedroom'."

But, a lot of people have said the new season is lacking a bit of oomph. Many people have said the new series is a bit tame when they've shared their views on social media, with some dubbing the new episodes as "boring".

Deborah Williams said: "I'm watching the new series of Bridgerton and, um, it's boring." Meanwhile Tiffany Fletcher said: " @susannareid100 you got it spot on on @GMB.

"I absolutely love #Bridgerton, but am definitely missing the steamy sex scenes."

Another said: "Bridgerton had a lot less sex in it this season. Last season was overwhelmingly horny."

None the less there are many people declaring their continued love for the show, and it's definitely proving popular having recently broken record views on Netlix. The general view seems to be people love the show and enjoy watching the longing gazes, hand grazes and the intense sexual tension between this season's main characters - Anthony and Kate.

But, romance doesn't seem to be enough for some viewers, with many being left unable to deny that they miss the steamy scenes between Simon and Daphne.
