Every word Patrick Vieira said on FA Cup, Wolves, Roman Abramovich, Premier League and more

Excited by FA Cup?

We wanted to have a really good run in the FA Cup and so far it has been good but still the game to come against Everton and a long way to go. We don’t want to get carried away or be too excited for it but we are pleased with where we are but we still know there are massive games to play before the FA Cup.

In the league the games coming before will be massively important for us because we need points, we need wins but going through build this moment, confidence and excitement we need and want.

Any chat this morning about the draw?

No, honestly we did not talk about it at all. The only conversation this morning in training was about the Wolves game and how important it is for us. We have had some positive results lately and it is important for us to keep that momentum.

Premier League statement - good to see a show of solidarity with Ukraine?

I think it is massively important. We have a part to play and when I say we I mean the football community. I think this is a really strong statement to support what is going on around the world at the moment and especially in Ukraine.

Abramovich – similar influence to Fergie or Wenger?

I think he was part of those people you mentioned who helped the Premier League to grow. He spent 20 years, 19 trophies and managed to bring some of best players in the world to the Premier League. Regardless of what is going on, I strongly believe he was part of those people who helped the Premier League to be successful.

Steve Parish's criticisms of UEFA

I think first the chairman, when you look at when he bought the club and where it is today, he has the credibility to express himself. He went through what the club is today and I think he managed to build a sustainable football club. His experience has to be listened to. I think he has the credibility and experience to express himself regarding what is going on at the moment.

Joel Ward back?

No, he is not. He is still doing some training but not with the team so he will not be available.

Wolves?

This is a team that has been doing really well. When you look at the table, they are fighting for this European spot. We played them at home and had a really good game. This will be no different and we will have to be at our best if we want to get something from there. This is a team who technically are really comfortable in possession, we have to defend well as a team, work hard as a team and of course when we have possession we have to use it well to create situations and score goals.

Quarter-final of FA Cup, doing well in the league – did you expect this?

We knew that it would be a challenging season because of the turnover we had. When we have so many young players coming in, especially from the Championship, they may take time to adapt themselves to the Premier League but those players did fantastically well.

All the credit to the support around the football club. We are never satisfied because we always want more, this is the game but there is still a lot to come from this group of players and hopefully, we have an exciting end of the season.

Surprised by Wolves' achievements?

This is a team that don’t concede very much but when they score first, they won their games. We will have to be aware of that so we have to defend well from the first minute and play the way we know we can. We have to play with personality and desire to go forward, to try to score those goals because that is how we want to play the game.
