Every word of Rohan Smith's press conference after Leeds Rhinos' win over Huddersfield Giants

General thoughts

Another brave performance. Playing with 12 men again, a couple of injuries, you half anticipate it with the frequency of fixtures but we defended well and reasonably calm in between but the attack was a complete mess again.

I thought we had the ball we just couldn't finish enough sets. We didn't have position more than possession overall but it felt like that because we were defending our own end a lot. We've found ways to win defensively for a good few weeks now. Our attack hasn't had a consistent team and that's difficult and you can see everyone telling each other to calm down but it's too late when you've played loose for no reason and turned the ball over. But the pleasing thing is how together they are to keep finding a way. I still thought the best team won tonight.

The four sin-bins

I'm relatively new still here so I'm not sure what's acceptable on the things that get adjudicated by other people. I'm not a fan of people getting sin-binned in general. If it's a clear-cut, obvious case, but I wouldn't have seen any of the sin bins tonight as necessary personally. I'm sure the powers that be will call me if they're interested in my opinion.

Blake Austin

It was a huge play, Brad went the right way but it closed down and Blake used his instincts, he's a good instinctive player in that mode. He found the space and Brad found him. It was a big play.

Liam Sutcliffe

I'm not sure what the prognosis is there with Sutty. He's got a bang on his knee and clearly, he was hampered. Hopefully it will settle down and he can get himself back in the picture real soon.

Tom Briscoe

He hasn't played since April so it's a big time out even though he's an experienced player. As it happened he's done a great rehab in the last month or so, he had a few setbacks in the time but worked through it and the last month he's really trained hard and wants to be competing in the team. He got there six or seven minutes in and he stood up and played well.

Morgan Gannon

He had multiple dings and wounds. It was ribs in the end. I was watching the game unfold and he was almost due to have a breather anyway. Then he got hit running a lead line.

Chris Hill yellow

Probably looked like it should have been a penalty, that would have been fine I would reckon.

Picking a team for Monday

We've just started spitballing in there about who could do what but it's too early to tell when people have bumps and bruises. The good thing is we had three or four not picked tonight who will come into the picture. As it has been for a few months now, whatever team we've got, that will be the team and we'll try our best.

Are Ian Watson's comments alluding to Richie Myler incident fair?

I've not looked at it too closely. I saw it once there on replay but we had more important things to worry about. I think overall our game couldn't be any safe. People know how to take care of each other, there are very few of the high tackles and dangerous throws that result in serious injury. Most players come back from head knocks and HIA. I imagine the success rate is pretty high. I'm not sure about some of the situations resulting in injury. I understand the need for protecting the head.

The bench

There's always a little thought. Today I wanted to get Tom back into the picture. Quite often as I've said, the last bloke, the 17th player doesn't play big minutes but because of our other middles playing such big minutes I thought it was a good time to do that with a slight thought about what's to come as well that the 17th spot was someone who has been playing a bit.

With Kruise back I saw Jarrod's role would be the smaller minutes but very important minutes
