How satisfied are you with the result and the performance?
"If you ask me before the game, I will tell you we were looking for the three points. But after the game you have to give value to the point. Every point counts. We were twice behind, it’s good for us to take one point but at the same time we are really disappointed as well."
How difficult was it to play against Brighton?
"To play against this team, in my opinion it’s very demanding. It’s very demanding because you have to know the way you have to have players, where, when and do it as team.

"Because if you don’t know how to do it, they find a way to progress with different passes and a lot of mobility. They are a very good team, that’s why my players deserve credit because they followed the plan and did it well."
How impressed were you with Patrick Bamford?
"Today he was available, but not to play all the game, but we had to manage with many players, with Patrick and Rodrigo – who could only play a few minutes. Same with Luis [Sinisterra] as well. We are recovering players, today they only played some minutes, but for the next game they will be stronger and do better."
Thoughts on Jack Harrison’s form?
"I think Jack is an example in many things, in a lot of things. He works for the team a lot. He defends, attacks, creates chances, scoring goals like today. The quality he has is without doubt for me."
Did the attacking options already available within the team give you confidence to take the job?
"To be honest, to have more players is good for us. If we speak about today, I am not happy with the way we attacked, we need to improve the way we started playing from the goal kick, from behind.
"If we speak about players, the quality of players we will have in the future in the next game, will be better for us."
Why did Leeds not press the Brighton defence?
"Because I know what happens when you go to press the goalkeeper against this team, I have seen many games. I know what happens, so we prefer to wait and wait in the right moment to be compact knowing many times we had two-v-two with our centre-backs in a high position as well because [Alexis] Mac Allister and [Evan] Ferguson drop some metres and make Robin [Koch] and Max [Wober] go with them.
"We had two players open in the midfield one-v-one against [Kaoru] Mitoma and [Solly] March and we took risks but if you speak about the keeper, we decided not to press him."
How important is Rodrigo going to be over the next few weeks and months?
“Rodrigo is a very important player for us, he needs to recover his best condition because he helped the team but he can only play around 30 minutes. It was not easy for me because I had to manage the result, the game and the minutes of many players.
"But I think it’s good because playing today, they will be better for the next game and will be better for the team."
Do Leeds have the amount of goals in the side needed to stay up?
"I think we are able to do it because today we’ve done it. Of course we can improve, the chances we created in the last games, we need to improve. But today we scored two goals and I believe in the future we will be able to do it as well."
How difficult is it for players to keep their discipline and not press when the crowd get frustrated?
"When you are losing, it’s even worse. It’s not easy. But pressing this way we were able to recover good balls and if we were more clinical we could have created some good chances as well.
"I decided it was the best way to do it and the players believed in that and I am happy with the way we press. Of course I would like to be more aggressive and press one-v-one, but pressing this way we took a high risk putting our two centre-backs in the opposite half and staying one-v-one with Luke Ayling and [Kaoru] Mitoma, Junior [Firpo] and [Solly] March.
"I think it was the best way to do it and we did it."
How pleased were you with the team’s character to come from behind twice?
"Very pleased, because I think they deserve this credit. They followed the plan, they were twice behind and it’s not easy playing at home to follow the plan and wait for our moments. I think they did many things very well and deserved at least one point."
How difficult is it to tactically plan for a team like Brighton?
“Very demanding, very demanding. They do many different things, attacking [they] have many options, many movements. Moving the striker, the second forward, dropping some metres, moving the full-backs inside, creating different options trying to use their mobility to create different lines of passes.
"It’s not easy to be well situated to defend but we did it. They created two chances but our team [did] as well, it was an open game in the second-half maybe even more and there were chances for both teams."
Is Wilfried Gnonto someone to use more or are you happy with him being an impact sub?
"I am very happy with Willy, with all the players. I have to choose, when I see playing for example today Jack [Harrison] and Cree [Crysencio Summerville], I’m happy with both. The players have to be ready to compete [with] the time they in every single game.
"That’s the only way we can achieve at the end of the season our target. They are good professionals. They know it and they have to accept that, I would like to give more minutes to all of them but I have to choose."
Did the players feel more pressure after the Bournemouth win knowing Leeds were in the bottom three?
"We didn’t speak about it. To be honest, I don’t know. I knew the result but I don’t know if they knew it or they felt something different. What I could feel was they were really focused and motivated on the game."
Is there a psychological battle over the next few days with the team dropping into the bottom three?
"I don’t like to see the table many times. I prefer to focus on the next game knowing it’s an important game for us. Today we got a point, next game we try to get three, it’s the only way to achieve at the end of the season our target."
