Bristol Rovers’ transfer window so far has been one of subtraction with Alfie Kilgour, Trevor Clarke and, in circumstances they’d rather have avoided, Bobby Thomas.
That has, to a degree, freed up some space in the wage bill and provided Joey Barton with another loan option as he targets multiple signings between now and January 31.
The clock is ticking but as he’s proved over his three windows in charge, Barton does tend to lean towards a late deal and on several occasions - Antony Evans, Elliot Anderson, Josh Coburn - he’s struck gold.
