Everton transfer round-up: Steven Bergwijn targeted with James Tarkowski deal close

Richarlison continues to garner the bulk of Everton headlines given his fight or non-fight shirt pulling altercation with Vinicius Junior on international duty.

Still images appeared to show the two being separated after a training ground spat. But video told a different story with the Everton and Real Madrid strikers ending laughing after what looked like gentle handbags for the cameras.

On a more serious note for Everton fans the imminent arrival of James Tarkowski is bigger news as is a possible grab for an unsettled international at Spurs. Mirror Sport takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours from Goodison Park.

Lampard eyes Bergwijn

Everton are offering themselves as an escape route for Tottenham's Steven Bergwijn according to several reports. The Netherlands international has failed to nail down a regular starting slot at Spurs under Antonio Conte and while the Italian is a fan, he is agitating for a move. And Lampard could offer him a way out as well as boosting his own forward line which looks set for a degree of change this summer. The Daily Mail claim Everton may face competition from Ajax apparently for the services of the £73,000-a-week forward. Bergwijn has stated his desire to look for something more significant than a fringe player with the World Cup ahead this winter.

Tarkowski deal edges closer

Various sources are reporting the signing of Tarkowski on a free is all but done. Tarkowski is in big demand as Burnley's relegation sale gathers pace and while the defender was going whether they stayed up or not, the Clarets loss could be Everton’s gain. Lampard is looking to rebuild a defence that looked stretched to the limit at times last season and sees the former England international as a key plank.

The player believes he can still force his way into the World Cup picture with a decent run in a decent side in the early part of next season. Aston Villa, Newcastle and Leeds have also been mentioned as possible destinations but Everton believe they will get their man according to i News.

On the back of Tarkowski's arrival, Lampard will shuffle his defensive pack and looks set to allow Jarrad Branthwaite go out on loan to Blackburn next season according to Lancashire Live. It is reported the Toffees boss rates Branthwaite and has no intention of selling. But he sees a period of Championship football as the perfect vehicle to take his career to the next step after six Premier League appearances last season. Everton loaned him out to Rovers last season where he played 10 games.

Academy exodus

Kevin Thelwell has indicated up to 10 talents could leave the academy and first team set up as Everton look at a major shake-up on contracts. The Liverpool Echo have reported that the director of football is set to take drastic action at Goodison Park, especially in the academy. It is suggested that up to 10 young talents could leave Everton this summer as a period of change is set to hit the club after the strategic review that took place. According to the paper, some of the players facing the exit door are Jack Barrett, Joe Anderson, Sebastien Kristensen, Harry Hagan and Einar Iversen.
