Everton told five key qualities Conor Coady will add as Wolves transfer decision explained

Pundit Simon Jordan believes Conor Coady will bring qualities that 'cannot be underestimated' to Everton this season.

The Blues announced the signing of the defender on a season-long loan on Monday. It is understood there is an option to buy at the conclusion of his spell back on Merseyside.

The 29-year-old joins James Tarkowski, Dwight McNeil, Ruben Vinagre and, most recently, Amadou Onana through the door this summer. As the former Wolves captain, Jordan believes Coady will bring some much-needed leadership qualities to the Everton back line.

"I very much like him," the former Crystal Palace owner told talkSPORT. "I think he epitomises a lot of good things that often we don't speak about.

"Culture, character, backbone, substance, decency. I think if you look at this particular player he embodies all those things.

"I think it's an element of the reason why Wolves have been cooperative in allowing him to go out to a potential, albeit weakened, rival. It's because of the respect the player has earnt and the respect he's given the club he's played for.

"I think it's a great signing. I don't know how he will work in that back four (at Everton) because it's a weak back four. Obviously they're trying to improve it with Tarkowski coming in but there is still questions.

"But, I think it's a great signing for Everton. If nothing else, the boy will bring substance and backbone into that side as well as leadership qualities and I think they can't be underestimated."
