Everton to honour the Queen at West Ham United match as Premier League plans confirmed

The Premier League has detailed plans for the top flight to pay its respects to Queen Elizabeth II over the weekend.

Seven of the 10 planned Premier League games will go ahead between Friday and Sunday including Everton's home match against West Ham United. The Goodison Park clash will still take place on Sunday but the kick-off time has been moved back to 2.15pm and will now be shown live on Sky Sports following the postponement of Manchester United v Leeds United.

Liverpool's planned trip to Chelsea has also been called off due to policing concerns around the Queen's state funeral on Monday, while Brighton's showdown with Crystal Palace - originally postponed due to rail strikes that will no longer go ahead this weekend - remains postponed.

A statement from the Premier League read: "All Premier League matches between Friday 16 and Sunday 18 September will provide an opportunity for the League, clubs and fans to come together to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation and world.

"Fans will be asked to join a minute’s silence, which will be followed by the National Anthem, God Save The King . Big screens and LED perimeter boards will display tribute images to Her Majesty and flags at the grounds will be flying at half-mast.

"When the clock turns to 70 minutes, fans will be invited to applaud The Queen’s 70-year reign."

Football in the United Kingdom returned this week with EFL and Champions League matches both taking place across the country on Tuesday. Moments of silence were observed across the nation, with some clubs deciding to play the national anthem as well.

Everton's trip to Arsenal last weekend, along with every other fixture in the country, was postponed, as a mark of respect to the Queen.
