Everton are in need of reinforcements with the new Premier League season just two weeks away. Frank Lampard has made just the single signing so far this summer with defender James Tarkowski being brought in on a free transfer after his contract with relegated Burnley expired.
And one of the biggest areas of concern for Blues boss Lampard will be his attack. Richarlison was sold to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month and he hasn't been replaced. But a new report suggests that Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe could fill the gap.
Recent reports suggested the Blues could rival fellow Premier League clubs West Ham United, Newcastle United and Leicester City for the 27-year-old, who made a club record £72m move to the Gunners three years ago.
And now journalist Peter O'Rourke has had his say. He told GiveMeSport : “They may get a real bargain now, whether it’s on loan or not, but I think Everton are in the market for attacking reinforcements.
“They need to replace Richarlison and if Nicolas Pepe is available on loan then it’s something Frank Lampard might look at.”
Pepe made the move from Lille to Arsenal in in the summer of 2019 for a fee that broke the north London club's transfer record. But the Ivory Coast international has failed to live up to expectations at the Emirates.
Pepe made just five starts in the Premier League for the Gunners last season and was last named in the starting line-up for a top-flight match by Mikel Arteta in October.
