Everton takeover update and what it means for Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham after huge claims

Takeover talk continues to swirl around Everton with MSP Sports Capital said to be close to a deal.

MSP Sports Capital and 777 Partners have both been linked with a move for the Blues, with the former reportedly signing an 'agreement' with the club's owner Farhad Moshiri. Sky Sports News reported on Monday that a deal is close to being finalised that would bring Moshiri's seven-year tenure at Everton to an end.

However, football.london's colleagues at the Liverpool Echo report that any deal will not be done until the season is over. Everton go into the final day of the campaign guaranteed to be outside the relegation zone providing Leicester City do not spring a huge shock with a win at Newcastle United on Monday night.

The Toffees have endured tumultuous back-to-back campaigns fighting off relegation and turned to Sean Dyche after sacking Frank Lampard in January in their bid to avoid the drop. MSP Sports Capital have been linked with a move to Spurs and the group's chairman, Jahm Najafi, was said to be preparing a move for the Londoners earlier this year.

It is claimed a multi-billion pound bid was in the offing with backers from the Gulf joining MSP, based in America, in contributing to the capital needed to secure a move for the club. Najafi has a sporting background with the Iranian-American vice-chairman of the Phoenix Suns and McLaren Racing Formula One team.

MSP Sports Capital or 777 Partners taking over at Everton would have ramifications for the rest of the Premier League because they would commit funding to restore Everton to being competitors for the European places in the top flight. Indeed, both firms would want a return on their investment and would not run it on a 'benefactor model' which tolerates losses.

As far as Arsenal, Chelsea and particularly Tottenham are concerned, a revived Everton run by firms with a track record in football and with a desire to grow the club's revenues could be one to watch out for.
