Everton suffer major injury blow ahead of Tottenham Premier League clash

Make no mistake about it, Saturday's game against Everton will prove to be a difficult test for Tottenham. Spurs welcome Frank Lampard's side to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the evening kick off on Saturday.

After just avoiding relegation last season, many tipped the Toffees to struggle once again this term, but they have proven to be a tough nut to crack so far this campaign. No team in the Premier League has conceded less goals than Everton.

Manchester City, Newcastle United and Brighton join the Toffees in having the best defensive record in the league, with just nine goals conceded in as many matches. Sunday's defeat against Manchester United was only the second time this season they've conceded two goals in a game.

Everton have maintained that impressive record despite having key defensive injuries. Ben Godfrey picked up a major injury on the first day of the season and hasn't played since, while Yerry Mina also sustained an ankle injury on the opening day against Chelsea.

Mina was set to make his return against Tottenham, but the Colombian has suffered a setback. The centre-back has sustained a minor calf injury, meaning he will be unavailable for selection. “Yerry has had a little bit of a setback this week and so won’t be available,” said Lampard, via The Athletic.

However, there is an injury boost further up the pitch for the Toffees. Dominic Calvert-Lewin played his first minutes of the season against Man United after missing the start of the season through injury. The striker is still undergoing a managed training programme, but is set to be available to face Spurs.
