Everton welcome Aston Villa to Goodison on Saturday but don't play again until February 5 when Brentford are the visitors in the FA Cup.

Ferguson is believed to be under consideration to take the job permanently alongside Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and Roberto Martinez.

Cannavaro was a new name added to the potential managerial candidates on Thursday.
