Everton suffered yet another blow on Saturday evening, falling to a disappointing and concerningly comprehensive 2-0 defeat to West Ham United, who like the Toffees have underwhelmed this season and are consequently battling relegation.
And it has resulted in serious consequences - with manager Frank Lampard sacked. The news emerged this afternoon with the Blues now hunting for a new manager.
Despite remaining resolute for the opening half an hour at the weekend, the Toffees' defence was eventually breached when Jarred Bowen marginally managed to keep onside and poke the ball in from close range.

It was Bowen again just seven minutes after the opener to double the hosts’ lead, again finding room between the Everton defenders to stab a second past Pickford and give the Irons a cushion going into the break, something unrecoverable for Lampard’s men.
This damaging defeat extended an unwanted record for Everton of losing all but one of their seven fixtures since the start of November, leaving the Toffees slumped in 19th in the Premier League table, only above Southampton on goal difference.
For their relegation threatened rivals, wins were also hard to come by with Bournemouth, who occupy the remaining relegation spot, being held at home by Nottingham Forest in a 1-1 draw. Southampton returned to losing ways after beating Everton last time out, as Aston Villa left St. Mary’s with all three points in a 1-0 win, whilst 16th placed Leeds United host Brentford tomorrow and Wolves face mission impossible with a trip to the Etihad.
