Jordan Pickford 7
England’s number one must wonder what’s going on in front of him, he made an impressive save to turn Said Benrahma’s powerful drive from outside the area over the bar but was left totally exposed for both goals by his defence and had to save well from Emerson after the break.
Seamus Coleman 6
Much more withdrawn than the first half against Southampton, the captain was disciplined in keeping tabs on West Ham’s creative talents even if other team-mates weren’t but made way at half-time as the visitors chased a two-goal deficit.

Vitalii Mykolenko 5
Like Coleman, he had to prioritise defensive duties and it looked like he’d been receiving instructions on positional sense after last weekend but was still nowhere to be seen for West Ham’s second goal down his flank and was hooked at the interval.
Yerry Mina 5
Brought in for the injured Ben Godfrey, a jittery afternoon for the Colombian started with a misplaced backpass early on and he was, alongside Onana, left in Bowen’s wake for the second goal.
Conor Coady 5
He and James Tarkowski both went up for the same aerial ball to challenge Kurt Zouma but together conspired to be beaten as Bowen fired the hosts ahead and for all his words of encouragement, he was at the heart of a defence all at sea, although he made a crucial block tackle late on to deny Bowen his hat-trick.
James Tarkowski 4
As mentioned previously, he and Coady found themselves beaten by Zouma in the build-up to the first goal, it was his misplaced challenge by the touchline, failing to stop Michail Antonio that led to the striker setting up the second and he was booked for bringing down Bowen in the second half.
Idrissa Gueye 5
They say never go back and the midfield dynamo during his first Everton spell has looked a shadow of his former self second time round and while a rare shot from outside the area forced Lukasz Fabianski to a smart save, that protective shield he used to provide in front of his defence just isn’t there right now.
Amadou Onana 5
Allowed Bowen to get between himself and Mina for the second goal through lack of anticipation, there were some purposeful runs but not enough.
Alex Iwobi 5
Almost carved out half a chance for Calvert-Lewin with a probing ball across the six-yard box after switching to right wing back after the break but passing was often astray.
Demarai Gray 5
Looked a threat on the break early on with his pace but faded as the game slipped away.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin 5
It’s obvious but having hit the net just once all season – in Everton’s last win some three long months ago – he desperately needs a goal but while he’s hopefully getting sharper, the centre-forward is continually feeding on scraps.
Dwight McNeil (on 46 for Mykolenko) 6
Forced to operate much more defensively than his natural game, he worked hard but the role stifled any creativity he might offer.
Tom Davies (on 46 for Coleman) 6
Brought a bit of much-needed energy but his side were chasing shadows.
