Everton player ratings as Salomon Rondon and four others impress against Boreham Wood

Asmir Begovic 6

Not tested by Boreham Wood, the understudy goalkeeper’s biggest tests came from over-hit back passes from Jonjoe Kenny and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Jonjoe Kenny 7

Showed his aptitude for versatility by playing in three different positions – first on the right hand side of a back three, then his natural right-back (from which he provided the assist for Rondon’s first goal) and finally left-back.

Michael Keane 6

Found himself involved in a tough physical battle against non-League opponents and while he matched them in that respect, was found lacking somewhat when he tried to be more ambitious with his passing.

Jarrad Branthwaite 6

Starting on the left of a back three, the youngster offered decent mobility but some of his passing played his side into unnecessary danger, including one pass straight at Tyrone Marsh.

Nathan Patterson 7

Operating as a right wing back on his long-awaited debut, his touch looked sharp and he got forward to good effect so while Frank Lampard needed to make changes to up the tempo for the second half, it was a shock that he was the one who made way.

Vitalii Mykolenko 6

Handed the captain’s armband, the Ukrainian lined up as left wing back in the first half and tested Boreham Wood goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond with an early shot. Switched to a more orthodox full-back role in the second half but never seemed to fully recover from hurting himself after being shoved into some advertising boards by Tyrone Marsh.

Allan 6

Tried to keep things ticking over by moving play out from in front of the back four, an assured display.

Abdoulaye Doucoure 6

Good to see him fit again with plenty of running but still shaking off the rust as he returns from his latest injury.

Andros Townsend 6

Started the season as an in-form regular but on what was a big opportunity to show Lampard what he’s all about, he struggled to find his range.

Anthony Gordon 7

Strong running and neat footwork made him a constant danger but his inventive play couldn’t find an end product on this occasion.

Salomon Rondon 7

Frustrated Evertonians might have feared it was going to be another one of those nights for the Venezuelan when header over the bar with a good chance early in the second half but his two simple but well-taken goals ended up putting his side through to the last eight.

Substitutes

Richarlison (on 46 for Patterson) 7

Added an extra dimension to the attack and was unfortunate to not only have his goal ruled out but also hurt himself in the process.

Coleman (on 59 for Mykolenko) 6

Solid outing for the last half an hour.

Dobbin (on 86 for Gordon)

Price (on 89 for Keane)

Welch (on 89 for Allan)
