Everton offer Seamus Coleman and Tom Davies contracts as new departure confirmed

Seamus Coleman, Tom Davies and Andy Lonergan have been offered new contracts by Everton.

The three players, whose deals were all set to expire at the end of the month, will each have the chance to stay on at Goodison Park after being offered new terms.

The Blues have confirmed that Yerry Mina and Andros Townsend have not been offered deals and that Asmir Begovic will also depart, saying the goalkeeper turned down an offer of a new contract. Mina and Begovic had already confirmed their departures. But it was unclear what would happen over Townsend.

At academy level, new contracts have also been offered to Ryan Astley and Lewis Gibson, while the club has activated options to extend deals for Jack Barrett and Mackenzie Hunt until the end of June 2024. Einar Iversen will depart Everton when his current deal expires at the end of June, as will Isaac Price following the midfielder’s decision to turn down a new contract. Price is moving to Belgian side Standard Liege.

Professional contracts have been offered to Owen Barker, Halid Djankpata, Isaac Heath, Edward Jones and Jack Tierney, with Shae Cahill, Troy Smikle-James, Charlie Wilson and Harry Wright leaving the club when their current deals expire at the end of this month.

Sam Coughlan and Saja Manafa, who are both currently injured, have not been offered professional contracts but will stay at Everton to continue their rehabilitation.

The Blues' director of football, Kevin Thelwell, said: “Everyone at the club wishes to thank all departing players for their contribution throughout their time at Everton. Many of them have developed through our academy and given their all each time they’ve put on the royal blue shirt. We’re also grateful to our senior men’s players who are moving on, including Yerry - whose passion and determination for Everton was evident by how highly he was thought of by our fans - to Andros and Asmir who were consummate professionals during their two years at the club.

“We wish all of them the best with the next chapters in their careers. We have also offered new contracts to players and we will continue talking with them as we look to build a competitive squad for Sean Dyche and his staff for the new season.”
