Colin Chong has replaced Denise Barrett-Baxendale as a director of the holding company for Everton’s new stadium.
Chong’s appointment was made on June 16 according to official documents made public on the Companies House website on Sunday.
He has overseen the development of the waterfront stadium for the Blues, effectively becoming the public face of the project since work commenced on site at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Documents relating to changes to the make-up of Everton FC’s board were also published on Sunday, the overhaul having been announced by the club on Friday.
Royal Blue: Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright have just set new Everton deadline they cannot afford to miss
The departures of chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale, chief finance officer Grant Ingles and non-executive director Graeme Sharp were announced by Everton on June 12. On Friday, the club issued a further announcement in which it laid out appointments to what was described as an interim board set to oversee a period of transition this summer. The news came on the same morning that documents filed in the US appeared to show an offshoot of MSP Sports Capital, which has entered a period of exclusivity in relation to investment in Everton, had raised around £130m as part of its efforts.
It was revealed that Chong had been made interim chief executive and had been appointed to the board of directors alongside majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri and businessman John Spellman, who would each become non-executive directors.
Those changes have now been formalised on Companies House, records showing that Chong was appointed as a director on June 16, one week before the move was announced. Moshiri and Spellman were appointed to the board on June 23, the date of the announcement.
Filings for Everton Stadium Development Holding Company Limited, made public on Sunday, show that Chong was also appointed to the director of that vehicle on June 16, and that Barrett-Baxendale had left its board. Chong and club chairman Bill Kenwright are listed as the active directors on that body.
