Everton hit by new Yerry Mina injury scare ahead of relegation battle run-in

Everton have been dealt a potentially significant injury scare in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Blues were taking on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon. After just 18 minutes, Frank Lampard was forced into an early change with Yerry Mina being replaced by Michael Keane.

Mina has only recently recovered from a quadriceps injury which had kept him out for several weeks.

The Colombia international made his return against Leicester at Goodison Park last month, after picking up the injury in early February.

It’s unclear at this moment how severe Mina’s injury is. The centre-back left the pitch with the score 1-1 at the King Power, after goals from Vitalii Mykolenko and Patson Daka.

Just after the half hour mark, the Blues went back in front after Mason Holgate scored their second of the game.

Mykolenko was also withdrawn with around 66 minutes gone, and replaced by Jonjoe Kenny. It remains to be seen what the situation is with the left-back.

Everton have four league matches left to play after Sunday’s trip to Leicester. Next is an away clash against already-relegated Watford, followed by a home double-header against Brentford and Crystal Palace, before a trip to Arsenal on the final day of the season.
