Hummel have hinted that Everton’s kit for the 2023/24 season could be a throwback to the club’s most-successful era.
The Danish sportswear brand, who have been producing the Blues kits since 2020, posted a tweet on Monday declaring: “I want you to put the word out there that we back to the 80s,” having launched Southampton’s 2023/24 home kit earlier in the day which draws inspiration from the Saints’ shirts from 1987-89 worn by the likes of Matt Le Tissier; Alan Shearer; Francis Benali and the Wallace brothers, Danny, Rod and Ray.
Everton already had a reboot of their 1983-85 home kit worn by their team that won the League Championship, FA Cup and European Cup-Winners’ Cup across those years in 2009 after Le Coq Sportif returned to produce their strips.
With Blues fans eagerly anticipating their next release, hummel replied to several tweets from Evertonians.

One replied: “Excited for the Everton releases” with hummel’s account responding: “Mate, I can’t tell you how excited I am too!” Another said: “You’ve got me excited for the Everton release,” and was told: “You and me both, Cal.”
An Evertonian declared: “The sexy blue shirts are on their way,” and was met with: “Yes, yes they are.” Meanwhile, after a Blue asked whether the ‘Gary Lineker bib’ kit was making a return, hummel’s account said: “I can’t confirm whether it is or not, but I will say that was a cracking kit!”
Last week it emerged that the unveiling of Everton's kit for the 2023/24 season has been delayed due to the club’s fight against relegation which prohibited the Blues from sealing sponsorship arrangements.
At the latest Everton Fans’ Forum, club officials addressed the supporters frustration over the issue and later confirmed new kits would be released in time for the school summer holidays.
