Everton could face Andre Ayew competition as rivals 'keep tabs' amid transfer links

Nottingham Forest are reportedly monitoring developments involving Andre Ayew as Everton remain linked.

The former Swansea and West Ham forward has been a free agent since settling his contract with Qatari side Al-Sadd. The Blues were linked with a deadline day switch for the Ghanaian but nothing materialised on Tuesday.

Despite being linked with a number of talents across England and Europe, Everton were said to eye moves for the likes of Kamaldeen Sulemana, Lucas Joao and Ismaila Sarr but failed to welcome a single fresh face and saw Anthony Gordon depart to Newcastle United.

It has since been reported that Sean Dyche's side could welcome Ayew as his first signing and reports have suggested that he flew into London ahead of talks.

Now, the Daily Mail are claiming that Steve Cooper's side are 'monitoring' the ongoing situation surrounding the reported Blues target, as well as at least one other Premier League club.

Despite the window closing on Tuesday, it hasn't stopped the possibility of signing players as free agents can still be registered. Ayew has been available since he left the Al-Sadd.

He signed for them in 2021 when now-Barcelona manager Xavi was in charge where he won the Qatari Stars League and Emir of Qatar Cup.

"Big thanks to Al Sadd SC, the coaches and management who believed in me at Al Sadd SC, especially @xavi who brought me here, and Juanma Lillo and to all my teammates who have become brothers," Ayew said in a statement posted on Instagram.

"I also want to thank the amazing fans for the massive support all these years.

"It was great and humbling serving this great club. The trophies we won and the impact we made was based on hard work and I count myself fortunate to have been part of the club’s rich history.

"We won: The Qatar Stars League, The Qatar FA Cup (Emir Cup). I wish Al Sadd FC all the best.

"The club will always have a special place in my heart because Ayew and Al Sadd started decades ago and will never end."
