Everton are close to signing Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille after agreeing a €20m (£17m) fee for the former Sheffield United forward.
The 24-year-old is understood to have agreed personal terms on a five-year deal having attracted interest from several other Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace. Everton are expected to pay an initial €18.5m for the Senegal international, with a further €1.5m in add-ons.
Ndiaye starred for Sheffield United when they were promoted to the Premier League in 2023 but opted to join Marseille for about £20m just before the start of the past season. He struggled there under several coaches, scoring four goals in 46 appearances. But Everton hope Ndiaye, who is comfortable in several attacking positions, can rediscover the form that has earned him 20 caps for Senegal and included a starring role at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Ndiaye could become Everton’s third summer signing after the arrivals of Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee and Jack Harrison for another season on loan from Leeds. They have also confirmed that Ashley Young, who will be 39 next month, has signed a new one-year deal. “Enjoyed my first season and delighted to be staying for another year,” wrote the former England international on X.
With Michael Olise moving closer to completing his transfer to Bayern Munich, Palace are understood to be in talks over signing Antonio Nusa from Club Brugge. The Norway forward, whose proposed move to Brentford collapsed in January after he failed a medical, is expected to cost about £25m. Nusa, 19, has previously been tracked by Tottenham.
Palace are bracing themselves for interest in Eberechi Eze, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham believed to be among those considering a move for the England forward, who is likely to cost more than £60m.
Palace are expected to confirm the signing of the Japan midfielder Daichi Kamada on a free transfer. The 27-year-old, who played for the Palace manager, Oliver Glasner, at Eintracht Frankfurt, represented Lazio last season.
