The West’s response to Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression has been admirable for its speed, severity and demonstration of unity. Sanctions are suffocating the Russian economy as the country is carved out of the global financial system.
There is, however, one glaring omission: energy. Europe remains reliant on Russian oil and gas, and is even now sending hundreds of millions of dollars a day eastward, effectively funding the Kremlin’s war machine.
