Wales boss Rob Page has questioned the way in which Brennan Johnson's injury was handled by Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old sustained a groin injury in Forest's defeat at Tottenham earlier this month, before going on to play the 90 minutes against Newcastle last week. There was hope that Johnson would link up with the Wales team yesterday (Thursday), prior to their trip to Split on Friday.

Wales who will face Croatia on Saturday, have been left without Johnson, who in the end has had withdrawn from the squad with injury. Page has expressed his disappointment following the outcome, saying : "First and foremost I feel for Brennan. He wants to play international football like everybody else.

It has not been the best of months for Nottingham Forest and their hopes of surviving as a Premier League club.

Three fixtures, one point and two defeats in March - part of a six-game run since their last Premier League victory - has left the ailing Reds just two points outside of the bottom three.

The upturn in Forest’s fortunes from the turn of the year, when they held Chelsea and beat Southampton and Leicester before snatching another point at Bournemouth, has largely evaporated as injuries have taken their toll on Steve Cooper ’s squad.

Evangelos Marinakis receives clear Steve Cooper response after manager 'offer'

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has received a clear message over the future of Steve Cooper following links to former Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelino Garcia Toral.

Reports in Spain claim that the manager has ‘turned down’ an offer from Forest to "immediately" replace Cooper at the helm. It is said that the Spanish coach only wanted to take on a new role at the end of the season.

Cooper is a popular figure among Forest fans, with the Welshman leading the club to the Premier League for the first time in over 20 years last season. He has found his job at the City Ground under pressure at times this season, but was given a new contract back in October.

Nottingham Forest star makes 'very frustrating' admission after latest blow

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has opened up on his injury frustrations as he looks set to sit out New Zealand's international friendly with China on Sunday.

The 31-year-old was left out of the matchday squad altogether for Thursday's goalless draw against the same opposition in Auckland, sitting in the stands for the first leg of a double header. He has been nursing a leg injury in recent weeks.

Wood took a knock in the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham on 11 March after coming on as a second-half substitute. He departed the pitch with a large lump on his thigh and has not played for Forest since - and it is very unlikely he will line out for the national team this week either.

Nottingham Forest make shock 'offer' to manager to replace Steve Cooper immediately

Spanish manager Marcelino Garcia Toral has ‘turned down’ an offer to take immediate charge of Nottingham Forest, according to reports in Spain.

The Reds currently sit in 16th place in the Premier League table, two points above the relegation zone. Head coach Steve Cooper is tasked with keeping the side in the league this season after leading them there via the play-offs one year ago.

The Welshmen has found himself under pressure at times this season, but the club stuck by him. The manager signed a new contract at the City Ground back in October, despite there being speculation over if he would remain at the club following a 4-0 away defeat to Leicester City.

Nottingham Forest 'tried to sign' Brazil starlet in January transfer window

Nottingham Forest reportedly tried to sign Palmeiras starlet Giovani in the January window.

That's according to ESPN Brasil, who claim that Forest offered the forward a six-month loan, with an option to buy. However, the offer is said to have not "pleased" the Palmeiras hierarchy, nor the player's agent at the time.

Giovani came through Verdao's academy and made his senior debut in November 2021 under boss Abel Ferreira. He has since caught the eye of European clubs, with Everton and Newcastle said to be monitoring his development.

Everton charged with allegedly breaking FFP rules by Premier League amid fierce relegation battle

Nottingham Forest's relegation rival Everton have been accused of breaching Profitability & Sustainability rules during the ending season of 2021/22 by the Premier League.

Everton could conceivably be punished in the form of points deduction, as a result, although this is unlikely to take place this season if they are sanctioned.. Forest currently find themselves in 16th place, level on 26 points with the Toffees - just two points away from the relegation zone.

An official statement released by the Premier League reads: "In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred an alleged breach of the League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules by Everton Football Club to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4. The assessment period for which it is alleged that the Club is in breach is the period ending Season 2021/22.

Nottingham Forest star Gustavo Scarpa makes 'wonderful' announcement

Nottingham Forest star Gustavo Scarpa and his wife Sarah have welcomed their baby boy into the world, as confirmed on the player's Instagram.

Scarpa and his wife Sarah initially announced they were expecting a child back in September. In a baby shower with family and friends, the pair revealed they were expecting a boy as they captured the moment in a video.

Fast forward a few months, the 29-year-old took to Instagram to share the news. "I can't believe I'm a dad. God is wonderful!," Scarpa wrote after posting a picture of himself at the hospital. "Beautiful and healthy little boy but he's my son too! Thank you God."

Nottingham Forest dealt fresh injury fear as Serge Aurier update emerges

Serge Aurier was reportedly forced off during Ivory Coast's 3-1 win over Comoros in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier earlier today (Friday).

The Nottingham Forest right-back was selected by Jean-Louis Gasset for the side's double header with Comoros earlier this month. However, Aurier now looks a doubt for the second-leg tie on Tuesday (March 28).

The 30-year-old who was named in Gasset's starting XI on Friday, captained the side before he was forced to withdraw at half-time. Aurier appeared to have picked up a knock, according to local media and was replaced by Wilfried Singo as the side led 1-0.
