Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has converted £12m worth of loans to the club into shares.
A “statement of capital following an allotment of shares” has been published on the Companies House website showing equity changes at the club.
It details how £12m worth of loans have been converted into equity, to further support the Reds, stating that “the shares were allotted in consideration of a waiver of a debt of £12m”.
It is seen as a show of great commitment by the Greek businessman and an indication of his investment in the club.
Converting the loans into equity takes the debt off Forest, and this latest move comes after similar changes were also made in 2021.
Garner plans
Nottingham Forest midfielder James Garner will be given the chance to impress at parent club Manchester United in pre-season.
The 20-year-old has been a key figure for the Reds in his second loan spell at the club, playing an important role in their promotion push under Steve Cooper.
After something of a slow start to the campaign, Garner has been back to his best in recent weeks and put in another classy performance against Bristol City at the weekend.
He netted his third goal this term against the Robins and has been an influential player for Forest in the centre of the pitch.
Keepers union
Ethan Horvath never gave up hope of getting another chance for Nottingham Forest. And having been handed an opportunity, he has been determined to make the most of it.
The American goalkeeper signed for the Reds in the summer but has mostly had to settle for warming the bench as Brice Samba has continued to be first-choice.
Horvath was selected for the Carabao Cup ties against Bradford City and Wolverhampton Wanderers at the start of the season, then endured a tough night on his league debut in what proved to be Chris Hughton’s final match in charge, against Middlesbrough in September.
But since then, he has had to be patient - until a three-match suspension for Samba gave him an opening.
January interest
Nottingham Forest reportedly made a move for Barnsley midfielder Callum Styles in January.
The Reds did some good business during the winter transfer window, making five signings as Keinan Davis, Steve Cook, Richie Laryea, Sam Surridge and Jonathan Panzo all put pen to paper.
They missed out on a number of other targets, however, having looked to strengthen out wide, in particular. Bids were rebuffed for Millwall’s Jed Wallace and Blackpool’s Josh Bowler.
And, according to The Sun, Forest were also one of three clubs to have “moved in for” Styles, along with Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers and MLS outfit New York Red Bulls.
