Being parents to young children can be a rewarding, yet challenging experience. That's why it's crucial for couples to take some time for themselves and enjoy moments alone or with friends. Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson Ross, a well-known celebrity couple, understand the importance of this and recently shared their experience of having an extra special babysitter.
At The Chivas Regal Golden Hour Soiree in New York City's Hotel Chelsea, Evan and Ashlee revealed that they enlisted the help of Evan's sister, Tracee Ellis Ross, for some aunt duties while they attended the event. The couple spoke with PEOPLE and expressed their appreciation for having someone they trust to watch over their children.
Ashlee, 39, emphasized the significance of having alone time as parents, saying, 'I feel like it's so important because we're parenting all the time, to have those moments alone or with our friends and have a date night is always special.'
Evan, 35, added, 'It's the best. And we got the support. My sister right now is actually, Tracee is doing our daughter's class. She's reading a book.'
The couple's daughter, Jagger Snow, was thrilled to have her aunt take over her class reading, sharing her excitement with her parents. 'I was supposed to read for her class today, but we came here and Tracee took over and Jagger was so happy,' Ashlee explained.
Tracee's involvement earned her the title of 'Best Auntie' in Evan's eyes. He proudly declared, 'She's a good auntie,' to which Ashlee wholeheartedly agreed. They were grateful for her assistance in ensuring their children were well taken care of during their time away.
This isn't the first time the couple has shown their openness to relying on family for support. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Evan and Ashlee discussed whether they would consider expanding their family further.
Already parents to son Ziggy Blu, aged 3, and daughter Jagger Snow, aged 7, Ashlee also has a son named Bronx Mowgli, aged 15, from her previous marriage to Pete Wentz. When asked if they were done having children, Evan responded, 'We'll see, but I think so. You never know.'
Ashlee, nearing her 40th birthday, admitted to being more hesitant but acknowledged that they would leave the door open for the possibility. She humorously remarked, 'I'm about to turn 40, but hey, never say never! I feel like once you get a kid in kindergarten, you're like, 'Am I done?' We'll always leave the door open.'
This glimpse into Evan and Ashlee's lives highlights the importance of finding support and maintaining a balance as parents. Their decision to have some quality time for themselves while knowing their children were in good hands is a testament to the strong bonds they share with their family. With the help of a loving and involved aunt like Tracee Ellis Ross, they were able to enjoy their evening, knowing their children were well-cared for.
