Evan Engram told a Sirius XM Radio host on Monday that, unlike last year, he isn’t “bouncing off the walls” with his contract set to expire. Talks to return with the Jacksonville Jaguars are going well and he’s optimistic that he isn’t going anywhere.
Still, with the franchise tag window now open and free agency just three weeks away, it’s a little stressful. So much so that a relatively harmless tweet from the Jaguars hyping up their tight end set off alarm bells for Engram.
My heart dropped I thought this was the announcement 😂 https://t.co/5tb2bXdzgR

In his interview Monday, Engram said the two sides have only had a few conversations so far. While that suggests a deal isn’t imminent, Engram also seemingly believes that an announcement — whether that’s an extension or a tag — could happen at any time.
Either way, in the words of Jaguars receiver Christian Kirk, the tight end isn’t going anywhere.
You not goin anywhere my boy 😂🤷🏽♂️

Engram, 28, joined the Jaguars last offseason on a one-year, $9 million deal. He finished his first season in Jacksonville with career highs in receptions (73) and receiving yards (766).
The former first-round pick had a reputation for drops during his five seasons with the New York Giants. But this season with the Jaguars, Engram dropped just 4.5 percent of his targets (per PFF), the lowest rate on the team.
After the Jaguars were eliminated in the playoffs, Engram told reporters that his season with the team was the best year of his life.
