The French embassy in Khartoum is closed until further notice. Foreign countries rushed to evacuate their nationals from Sudan as fighting continued for a second week between forces loyal to rival army figures. Emergency flights were continuing early Monday, with hundreds of people flown out overnight on military aircraft.

France has decided to close its Sudan embassy until further notice, warning that those wishing to leave the country should no longer regard the embassy as a refuge or meeting point.
