Eva Marie Saint, the Oscar-winning actress whose rose-print cocktail dress in Alfred Hitchcock's "North by Northwest" became one of the best-remembered costumes in the director's films, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, at her home in Los Angeles. She was 102. Multiple obituaries, including those from The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, confirmed her death, which was attributed to natural causes.
Saint won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her first film, "On the Waterfront" (1954), and had been the oldest living Oscar winner. Her most lasting fashion image came five years later, when Hitchcock cast her against type as Eve Kendall, the composed double agent who meets Cary Grant's Roger Thornhill aboard a train out of New York.
We say goodbye to our dear friend, Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint.
