Eurovision presenters Rylan Clark and Scott Mills were rescued by emergency service staff after they got stranded and mobbed by fans. The pair had gone out for a meal in Liverpool where the contest is taking place this year when they ran into difficulties.
Rylan and Scott needed to be saved by Merseyside Water Rescue ahead of tonight’s grand final - but because there were so many Eurovision fans out and about they were unable to get a car back to their hotel.
Rylan shared the drama on his Instagram Stories. In the video of the journey home, Scott, 50, can be heard remarking: “This is ridiculous,” the Mirror reported.
Meanwhile, an amused Rylan explained exactly what had happened, revealing: “So basically there’s been no cars.” Scott then piped up: “Well we did leave dinner at the exact time when everyone was leaving the arena.”
Rylan, 34, continued the story, telling fans: “We didn’t realise the arena was kicking out at that point, well done everyone. And then Merseyside Water Rescue has just come to our aid and they put us on a boat but we couldn’t get out of the dock.”
At the big event tonight Mae Muller is representing the UK, with her track ‘I Wrote A Song’ and there are high hopes for her to take home the top prize this year after the UK narrowly missed out on the top spot in 2022.
Thomas LJ said: “Amazing Rylan the people of Merseyside are always amazing! I love our people and you have made me love Eurovision I’m convinced it’s going to be amazing tomorrow night. Thankyou.”
Natasa Urosevic said: “We loved Liverpool and getting a selfie with you just before we left was the cherry on the cake. Wish we could have stayed for the week worth of celebrations. Thank you for being so friendly to us xx” Replying to Rylan posting a picture of him posing in hi-vis Merseyside Water Rescue said: “He might be the only person on the planet able to make hi-vis look that good."
And they added: “Happy to help out @Rylan and @scott_mills this evening, two genuinely lovely people! Team selfie with @Rylan and @scott_mills tonight, hi-vis never looked so good!”
