Eurovision fans have their say as Mae Muller to represent UK in Liverpool

The BBC has revealed who will represent the UK on the international stage at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in May.

North Londoner Mae Muller will perform at the Liverpool event with her track 'I Wrote A Song'. It comes after rumous were spinning about who would take the stage on behalf of the country - with other top picks including Rina Sawayama, Mimi Webb, and Birdy.

Many may know Muller for previously supporting Little Mix in 2019, an experience she described as a "confidence boost". But now, she will succeed Sam Ryder, who landed the UK in the second spot in the last contest, with a new pop song.

Many on social media have expressed their excitement at the reveal, with one user on Twitter writing: "The UK Eurovision song is BANGING." Another user wrote: "Ok, it isn't as amazing as Sam Ryder, two different types on song and performers but Mae Miller's I Wrote A Song is catchy, upbeat, fun, and earworm, and SO MUCH BETTER than majority of the acts taking part this year.

"It'll do well. It won't win. But def top 10." A third user wrote: "The song is awesome. At last we have a great chance of winning."

A fourth user wrote: "The full version is good. It's a bop. Finally the UK sends a banger to Eurovision. It will set the arena on fire in May the atmosphere is gonna be incredible."

However, some other listeners were not too pleased with the UK's entry for this year, with some saying it doesn't leave it up to the expectations of previous entries. One user wrote: "I don't think I felt anything with the UK's entry in Eurovision 2023. I personally think Space Man last year is the better song."

Another user wrote: "And the UK Eurovision entry is fairly middle of the road radio pop. Nothing especially memorable or stand out."

Mae Muller will be representing the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest throughout May.
