Mae supported girl group Little Mix on their 2019 tour and appeared in a music video for popstar Mika's hit Grace Kelly in 2007 when she was just 10 years old. She recently admitted that her musical inspirations are Gwen Stefani, Florence and the Machine and Lily Allen.

Mae’s signing comes following the huge success of last year’s UK entry, Sam Ryder with ‘SPACEMAN’. In 2022, the United Kingdom came second in the contest with a score of 466 points - the highest score the country has ever had.

Eurovision is being hosted this year by Graham Norton, Hannah Waddingham, Mel Giedroyc, Scott Mills, Rylan Clark, Alesha Dixon, Sam Quek, Ukranian singer Julia Sanina and Ukranian presenter Timur Miroshnychenko. You can read more about that here.

Ukraine won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022, a title which would usually mean the contestant's home country host the following competition, but due to the ongoing war the UK is hosting the event this year on behalf of Ukraine.

Tickets for this year's Eurovision went on sale on Tuesday, March 7 but you'd have been hard pushed to get your hands on some. At 12.36pm the official Eurovision account tweeted that all tickets to the grand final had sold out - an hour and a half after going on sale. A spokeswoman for the BBC said: “As expected, demand for Eurovision Song Contest tickets was extremely high and tickets for all nine shows sold out in 90 minutes.
