Hailing from Hamburg, the band have released eight years since 2010. Lord of the Lost began life as a solo project in 2007 from Chris Harms, a musician who has previously been part of German rock bands Philiae and The Pleasures.
Having received a positive response after uploading songs onto MySpace, Chris, 43, recruited fellow musicians from the Hamburg music scene to work on his first album and they joined forces to form band Lord of the Lost.
Alongside frontman Chris, the band currently comprises Gared Dirge, Class Grenayde, Pi and Niklas Kahl.
The band was chosen to support Iron Maiden on their 2020 European tour after bassist Steve Harris personally picked them for the honour. The tour was eventually rescheduled to 2022 due to the pandemic, with Lord of the Lost supporting the band on 11 dates.
Lord of the Lost will return to support Iron Maiden this year as part of their Future Past tour between June and August, with a date at the AO Arena in Manchester on June 30.
The song Blood and Glitter is described as being an anthem about living life to its fullest despite the harsh realities and hurdles.
Germany has taken part in every Eurovision Song Contest since it began in 1956 - except for one occasion in 1996 where the country did not make it past a pre-selection round.
The country has been regarded as one of the ‘Big Five’ countries of the event since 1999. Along with France, Spain, Italy and the UK, the countries are now automatically granted a spot in the final due to their financial contributions to the European Broadcasting Union.
Germany has won the contest twice in 1982 - with Nicole’s Ein bißchen Frieden - and 28 years later in 2010 with Lena’s Satellite.
Lord of the Lost will perform in the second half of this year’s final.
The grand final takes place on Saturday from 8pm, live on BBC One.
The lyrics in full to Blood and Glitter
Blood and glitter
Sweet and bitter
We're so happy we could die
Blood and glitter
What we are is but a choice
A promise to ourselves
We are free to break and change
Never forget? Let it go
This or that? No need to know
Whether above or below
We are all from the same blood
Blood and glitter, sweet and bitter
We're so happy we could die
Blood and glitter, sweet and bitter
We're so happy we could die
Blood and glitter, saint and sinner
We do fall before we rise
Now go, go
Let your blood flow, flow
With broken wings, we'll learn to fly
We are blood and glitter
Keep your head up in the clouds
With two feet on the ground
Life's too fast so make it count
Never forget? Let it go
This or that? No need to know
Whether above or below
We are all from the same blood
Blood and glitter, sweet and bitter
We're so happy we could die
Blood and glitter, saint and sinner
We do fall before we rise
Now go, go
Let your blood flow, flow
With broken wings, we'll learn to fly
We are blood and glitter
Let your blood flow
Blood and glitter
Let your blood flow
Blood and glitter, sweet and bitter
We're so happy we could die
Blood and glitter, sweet and bitter
We're so happy we could die
Blood and glitter, saint and sinner
We do fall before we rise
Now go, go
Let your blood flow, flow
With broken wings, we'll learn to fly
We are blood and glitter
