Who is Brooke Scullion?

Brooke Scullion is a 23-year-old performer and personal assistant who was born in Bellaghy in Co Down.

Born on March 31 1999, Brooke was involved in both the performing arts and sports from a young age.

While attending school at St Patrick's College Maghera, she performed in several musical productions including Fame, Mamma Mia! and Sister Act.

Apart from her musical talent, she also played on the senior camogie team at Wolfe Tones GAC and was a drama student at Ulster University at Magee.

In 2020, Brooke performed on the 9th series of The Voice UK and wowed all four judges at her audition with her cover of Lewis Capaldi's hit single 'Bruises' - having her pick of mentors, she chose pop superstar Meghan Trainor.

The Derry girl soared all the way to the final where she duetted with Ella Eyre and placed in third.

Speaking to Belfast Live about her experience on the show, she said: "I didn't let myself get nervous.

"Being away from the show that long, it felt like when I was coming back, I was starting something new and exciting.

"I worked on my craft during lockdown and I'm proud of what I did, and now I'm proud of how far I've come.

"The audience obviously wasn't there but there were screens in the back and you could see people watching and they were giving a great response."

Speaking about the single, Brooke said: “I was reading Debbie Harry’s autobiography and wanted to encapsulate the attitude she portrayed in her life.”

Oozing with energy and sass, the songwriter demonstrates her impressive and powerful vocal range, which soars atop a throbbing beat and playful instrumentation.

“That’s Rich” premiered on RTE One’s Ryan Turbidity radio show and was performed for the first time on national TV on RTE's Late Late Show Eurosong Special on 4th February where Brooke topped the votes.
